Old Wild West - San Giorgio di Mantova — Restaurant in San Giorgio Bigarello

They opened at 6 p.m. and we happened to be there and went in. We were the only ones, but it filled up reasonably quickly. The food was served quickly, and they served the appetizers together with the meal. We got the impression it was more fast food than a restaurant. The Mexican nachos were okay. The salsa was too sugary and the guac was bland, obviously squirted out of a tube onto the nachos. There were bunches of little nacho pieces, as if they'd dumped the reminders of a bag out onto the plate, just kind of indifferent to the guest's perception of how much care goes into preparing the food. Some of the nachos were already soggy when served. The burger was good, but there was no lettuce on it. The chicken caesar wrap was dry, sauce was served on the side, but it had nothing to do with Caesar, it was the same ketchup/mayo mix they served with the fries. Disappointing. We asked if we could substitute onion rings for the fries, and the waitress said yes. Instead of substituting, we paid extra for the onion rings and also paid for the fries they did not serve. Maybe it was the language barrier, because some of the wraps are definitely served as a stand-alone. The local beer was bland, but the restaurant can't be held accountable for that. Wouldn't drop...

Indubbiamente la carta vincente di questo locale è l'ambientazione. Molto pittoresca, tipica delle catene di ristoranti a tema degli States. C'è chi potrebbe dire pacchiano o tendente al kitch... personalmente credo sia piacevole stare al gioco e farsi conquistare dall'atmosfera. Indubbiamente un locale tendente al fast food, adatto anche ai più piccoli e per occasioni da festeggiare tipo compleanni o rimpatriate. Il servizio è piuttosto rapido, il personale giovane e cordiale, dalla prima accoglienza al pagamento del conto. Quest'ultimo è nella media e coerente con la qualità del cibo. Ho ordinato una tagliata di manzo con i contorni. La qualità della carne era discreta, purtroppo quasi fredda (forse la servono così), patate al forno e insalata di spinacino gradevoli. Nota di merito alle salse d'accompagnamento: quella della casa (oww) è densa, saporita e versatile. Ricorda una salsa coktail, ma più decisa. Ottima la chipotle, bella piccante. I tacos sono gradevoli oltre che per i sapori, anche per il gioco di contrasti tra consistenze etemperature. Ampio parcheggio e aperto anche a pranzo. Clientela...

We might have been there at the wrong time - however I found it not very inviting, the food was okay-ish and service seemed not too competent.

I do consider, that we talked in a mix of Italian and English - and it is surely not easy.

Still - the overall experience was that next time we better load somewhere else or...
