Coming from a fancy hotel, we weren't sure what to make of this somewhat out of the way agriturismo. The road leading up to it made us wonder. Once up the long driveway, it is a pretty, homey farm. The room was small but big enough, spotless and cool from the air conditioning. It's kind of Swiss chalet meets Italian bedroom style. And the bed is comfortable! ||I'd read good things about the food and we weren't disappointed. It was excellent! Just too much... The most memorable dishes were the spicey salami filled with mild cheese and a melon sauce which was out of this world and ricotta filled ravioli with saffron butter sauce. Breakfast isn't terribly exciting. Good fresh fruit and Italian sweets.||It's a great place to explore the Gargano from. We picked it because we wanted to do a 2 day tour and still be near the highway to quickly head north again. It worked out well. ||The only complaint we have is that when the owner showed each evening, the status of the construction of the pool became more important than serving the guests. This had more to do with the demanding owner than the staff not wanting to tend to us... I'm sure this will be resolved once the beautiful new pool...
Read moreHaving never been to Puglia, and looking for agriturismos, I chose Le Querce di Marme from the selection offered by TripAdvisor primarily because of its highly rated restaurant. Boy, what a fantastic find, not just the excellent restaurant with its buffalo meat entrees, but the rooms, the grounds and most of all the service provided by Noemi and Mateo, the young owners. Their kindness, enthusiasm and passion for what they do is apparent and they made our stay a memorable one. They are fluent in English and were very helpful in planning our day. They have a 150-acre farm (tomatoes, peppers, wheat etc.) 20 minutes northeast of Foggia with 100 head of buffalo among its livestock. The fresh mozzerella and the cappuccinos made with buffalo milk (a speciality of Mateo's) are sublime. The farm is quiet, peaceful and conveniently located for day trips to the Gargano with its beaches, medieval villages and religious shrines. The ensuite rooms were clean, spacious and, above all, the bed was comfortable. I am counting the days when I can return for a much longer stay and if you should find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and book early.||||Jim C. ...
Read moreWe enjoyed 3 days at this unique agriturismo. It has a greater emphasis on the elaborate restaurant/reception hall than accommodation in the 4 rooms. The welcome was warm and helpful, dinners and breakfast were generous and mostly very good, the rooms somewhat basic but clean and serviced daily. We loved the contrast between the rather formal dining areas and the buffalo sheds 20 metres away. Speaking of buffalo, it was an unexpected thrill to have fresh buffalo milk in our morning coffee and beautiful mozzarella with our dinner.||The area is dominated by the wonderful Gargano National Park and coastline so weather plays a part in one's enjoyment. The surrounding cities of Foggia and Manfredonia are not as interesting as other parts of Puglia, but it isn't too far to go to beautiful Trani further down the coast.||The rooms would have benefitted from a shelf or cupboard in the bathroom - a small detail but annoying when the stay is longer than a day.||We couldn't fault the friendliness and helpfulness...
