A’luara — Restaurant in San Roberto

😊: Location, lovely welcoming hostess & friendly helpful staff, great views from the rooms. Evening food choice was good & not expensive.. 😢: Place is a little outdated (but traditional & quaint!). Issues with language barrier (nobody's fault). Breakfast was limited to cakes & croissants but, what was asked for was given (fruit juice, toast, scrambled egg) but why no fruit? Problems with charging phones & devices. On the last night we were asked to move to a top floor apartment because they had a large influx of workmen staying (who all smoked so, sitting in the outside bar area was not pleasant). Apartment was fine but was clearly set up for use by winter sports enthusiasts & had not been used...

Ho soggiornato in questa struttura per tre giorni a fine luglio. Si trova lungo la strada fra Gambaire in Aspromonte e Scilla, con prezzi inferiori di ca. un terzo rispetto alle suddette località a fronte di qualità ottima. Non c'è nulla intorno, ma la posizione è favorevole per alternare la montagna e il bellissimo mare di Scilla. Camera comoda, fornita di tutti i confort e balcone. Ci sono anche terrazzini comuni con bella vista sul mare, isole e tramonti. Gestione famoliare. I proprietari, di naturale gentilezza e grande attenzione agli ospiti, come il resto dello staff, hanno cresciuto l'attività con spirito imprenditoriale e grande dedizione al lavoro, prima il forno adiacente, poi il bar, il ristorante, le camere. Ma una menzione speciale merita la cucina, porzioni abbondanti a base di prodotti locali preparati con sapienza e grande cura. Ottimi gli antipasti e le carni alla brace di cui sono particolarmente forniti. Segnalo i paccheri alla Luara e il cubiroll alla brace, una tagliata di vitello in salmoriglio morbidissima e gustosissima. Ottima anche la colazione con diversi tipi di dolci e pane di loro produzione, marmellata fatta in casa e se si desidera vari tipi di salati, tanto abbondante che a pranzo ci è sempre bastata una granita.
