Ape Wine Bar Santo Stefano Belbo — Restaurant in Santo Stefano Belbo

This review is long overdue as I was in Casseno Belbo in August 2017. I’m a bit of a foodie from Vancouver, BC, where we have pretty good food. Now, our trip to Italy in general gave us a great food experience. We stumbled on this place when we were up in Cossano Belbo for a wedding. A group 5 of us were looking for a casual dinner in town and weren’t expecting anything out of the ordinary. This place blew all our minds. The waitress saw that we were debating of what wine to order and what dishes we should start with, so she went and got the chef and owner of the restaurant and he sat with us came guilded us through options and also made some dishes for us off the menu. He suggested some great bottles of wine as well. Food was truly exceptional and it is one of the most memorable (top 3) food experiences and quality I have been exposed to.

If you are in this area for dinner, this place is a must. Period.

Unappropriate owners (or waiter?) adresses roughly to us and two other ladies when entering, regarding the choice of our tables..

There was no point to stay there anymore. We will come back to Santo Stefano in the next years but they will never see our money there..

Probably the fact that it was the only bar open that day gives to that arrogant idiot the right to bounce...

What a lovely place! We enjoyed some great food and excellent wines here. Especially loved the spumante! The vitello tonnato and the carpaccio were outstanding and I adored the roasted octopus with fava puree. Our waitress was lovely, very friendly and she took care to answer all our questions. We really had a great lunch here.
