Nice evening meal in a romantic setting - the building is beautiful and the atmosphere is elegant. We ordered the cut steak with black truffles (€33) and the fillet steak with pistachio (€39) with sides of vegetables (€9) and chips (€6) which we found expensive.
The steaks were both nice, but a little unusual - the cut steak with truffle was cooked really well however appeared to have been sat on a hot plate for a while (grey on the bottom and dry on the outside) also the flavour of the truffle was hugely overwhelming.
The pistachio fillet steak was cooked in oil which made it also taste oily. The pistachio coating however was nice.
The sides were excessively expensive and the deep fried artichokes didn't really compliment the dish - fried chips, fried artichokes and fried fillet steak (?)
The wines (red and white) were nice and tasty and we were given a glass of prosecco early on which was a nice touch. Service was excellent.
For two people, we paid €160...
Read moreSuch a great place turned out to be such a great disappointment for us. We dinned at Limonaia on 26/9/25 having great expectations. The atmoshere is great and elegant. The service good but could be better. Now the food. We went there for the Bisteca Fiorentina. We were presented with the several cuts and have selected to get the original which is the stake from "Chianina", the breed Muggelo is famous for. We ordered medium rare and it came medium rare. The meat however was so tough that was left uneaten. The waiter said the chef suggested maybe it should be ordered rare. This is usually the excuse when the meat is so tough you cannot actually be chew it. I appreciate that they offered a complementary piece of meat which came cooked rare but equally tough (or may be worse). Also left uneaten. Maybe we should have ordered Black Angus, but guess what the Chianina was more expensive that Black Angus, suggesting it is a better quality. Not the case in...
Read moreStumbled upon this place while looking for lunch. My family and I were blown away by how delicious the food was and how attentive and knowledgeable our server was. We ordered some Tuscan regional classics and the beef tartare for appetizers, along with some Prosecco. The food was perfectly paced for a long, relaxing Italian lunch. For main courses, we ordered the lemon pasta and the zucchini pasta (with edible flowers! So cute). Perfect sizes to pair and share in preparation for a good Florentine steak afterwards, which is an absolute must-have. Our server showed us the actual pieces of beef we could select our steak from and helped us find the best ones of the region. Would give six stars if possible. This is definitely the place to go to indulge in...
