If you want the perfect way to experience the best of wine, food, service and accommodation in Piemonte, Hotel Castello di Sinio is the place to stay. This beautifully kept and completely renovated authentic castle from the 14th century represents a personal, historical and cosy experience with the amazing hostess and Hotel Manager of the Year 2016, Denise Pardini to personally greet you at your arrival. You immediately get a feeling of being welcome to this beautiful and luxurious hotel, and the staff bends over backwards to accommodate your every and any need throughout your stay. Greeted with a glass of Prosecco as your luggage is carried to your room is the first step in getting into a nice vacation mode.
The rooms are tastefully furnished, with a perfect combination of ancient details and modern styled facilities. The breakfast includes a choice of anything you can possibly need, and if you have special needs in addition to that, they are more than happy to accommodate. Breakfast can either be enjoyed inside in the authentic dining room in the cellar, or outside in the beautiful and peaceful garden surrounded by colorful flowers and the sound of chirping birds. Don't be surprised if some of the same flowers show up on your dinner plate later if you choose to dine at the hotel - witch is highly recommended!
Denise Pardini proves to be not only a one of a kind hostess, she is also an amazing chef capable of creating gourmet meals like work of art (why this is not a multi Michelin-starred restaurant beats me, and how it has managed to stay off their radar for so long is a mystery. Hello, Michelin??). Anything from vegan through fish, chicken and meats are meals on her vast repertoire, and if you let her choose your wine for the courses, you are sure to have a very successful evening. The dining room for dinner is different from the dining room for breakfast, with classical music perfectly suitable to the authentic surroundings of this beautiful Italian castle.
Staying at Hotel Castello di Sinio is a luxurious treat right in the middle of the most exciting and traditional wine country in the world, and I highly recommend a once-in-a-lifetime stay here. Sometimes it will turn into a twice-in-a-lifetime...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a 2 month European trip and being disappointed time after time with built up expectations by resorts, we found the Hotel Castello di Sinio in the Piedmont region area near Alba, Italy, that exceeded our expectations. This completely renovated medieval castle has only 14 rooms (9 suites and 5 rooms) surrounded by a pool and veranda. The rooms all are unique and appointed with antiques, art, Persian carpets and 4 poster beds giving the place a fairy-tale feel. It has all the personal touches and functions perfectly. The staff, led by owner Denise Pardini, is warm and helpful, without being intrusive. She has roots in both California and Italy and has deep knowledge of all the villages that encompass the important Barolo wine growing region. Negotiating the narrow roads and tiny villages can be a challenge for Americans even with GPS, but Denise and crew help demystify.
While the food in Northern Italy is outstanding, this hotel dining room is the best we have had the entire trip and ate there 3 of our 5 nights. All the food is prepared by Denise, an experienced restauranteur . It has a great mix of Italian classics with some modern California influences beautifully presented in a warm dining room. There is an excellent wine list as well that is well priced as is the food.
After a day out in the wineries along the winding roads, we looked forward to returning to our oasis peacefully awaiting us and recharging for the next day! In the travel industry, a lot of places make these sorts of promisesābut this place delivers! I couldnāt recommend an accommodation any...

The last time we stayed at this hotel was six years ago and I'm happy to say that, like a fine wine, it seems to have improved on perfection. The attention to detail is extraordinary. This is far from a "budget" establishment, but it is a good value to those who appreciate a hotel which offers more than simply a comfortable bed and a fancy name-tag above the door. The decor is consistent, the amenities diverse and the food - well, the food is on a par with any I've eaten during a lifetime of secret gluttony.
The Hotel is a 12th Century castle immaculately renovated by the owner, Denise Pardini, who is a re-transplanted Italian/American and is a gifted chef as well. Yup, itās a 900 year old castle all right. Overlooking vineyards, this place with its one meter thick walls could easily be a movie set. The timbers and planking are incredible and the modern systems blend seamlessly with the original fortress. Our room had a terra cotta tile floor, a plethora of every imaginable toilet amenity (Aqua de Parma) and appears newly renovated. The first time we stayed, the room we booked was a āsuperiorā and is decent sized at 24 sq. Meters (about 260 sq. ft.), but faces the courtyard. On this stay, weāve got a two room suite which is just lovely. The hotel even has a lovely petite swimming pool. They provide each guest with a 25 page document they have created with (very) candid reviews of local eateries, colored annotated maps and suggestions and an unlimited amount of prosecco wine as a welcome drink.
I can't recommend this hotel...
