Had dinner here Monday night at 9:00 pm. The restaurant was packed! My wife, my brother and I were the only non locals there. A real authentic Tuscan restaurant with absolutely great food. We had steak with Olive oil and Rosemary, Chicken in lemon sauce, Bruschetta, Ravioli with garlic shrimp and tomatoes, Caprese salad, Chocolate cake with cream and Nutella, Almond tart, and Panna Cotta with caramel. Everything was absolutely delicious. We have been in Italy (Rome and Siena) for one week now. This is without a doubt the best meal we've had. We've researched many dining choices but this gem was a recommendation from the owners of the villa we are staying at in Sociville. The restaurant was off the beaten path and a little difficult to find since we went at night. Glad we had GPS. We couldn't see the restaurant from there road but when we were near we saw many cars parked alongside a dark road. We did the same and walked up a small narrow street. As we approached we could hear laughter and conversation and finally the small walkway leading to the restaurant's entrance. We had a reservation for 9:00 pm and the only table available was ours. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly...
Read moreOur dinner at Cateni was absolutely fantastic! This family run restaruant, perched atop a beautiful Tuscan hill, exceeded all expectations. House made pasta, bread and locally sourced ingredients can’t be beat! The food was exquisite and can easily go head to head with any James Beard or Michelin restaurant. Very creative and inventive menu while also simple and non-pretentious atmosphere. Our menu: fresh tagliolini infused with beetroot in a Chianti reduction with eggplant crisps, Raviolini served on a divine pear, cheese and walnut base, and the Tagliata di Manzo (filleted beef) was perfectly cooked and tender and simply prepared letting it speak for itself! Not to mention delightful with the roasted potatoes and sautéed veggie sides). Dessert was also a wonderful surprise with the pear focaccia, which was one of the lightest pastry crusts I’ve ever had. So delicious I didn’t even take pictures! All of this for an incredibly reasonable price accented by the most friendly staff (along with great conversations - including family members, chefs, etc.). This place is a true gem and a must if you are in the area. Grazie mille e...

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The view alone is worth the visit — breathtaking panoramas of the Tuscan countryside that seem straight out of a postcard. But the real highlight is the food: every dish is a celebration of local tradition, prepared with love and incredible attention to detail. From handmade pasta to perfectly cooked meats and seasonal vegetables, each bite was a true delight. The service was flawless — attentive without being intrusive, and always with a smile. It’s clear that this is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place where passion for food, family, and territory come together in the most authentic way. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Tuscany in a setting that touches the soul, don’t miss this place. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the...
