La Porta Antica — Restaurant in Sternatia

This is a busy local restaurant with a huge menu. Truly - their menu is enormous, maybe the biggest I’ve seen in Italy. I tend to think that this is a bad sign...how can they possibly do 100 dishes well? The service is extremely harried and not particularly friendly and the food is slightly above average, nothing incredible. I had the tagliata di manzo and the flavor was nice but the meat was quite tough. The insalata mista was fine but - oddly enough for Puglia in August, let alone Italy in general - the tomatoes were completely tasteless. The best dish was the simple grilled vegetables I had on the side, which were full of flavor and were fresh and tasty. The restaurant itself has clearly seen better days and is tackily (or perhaps “kitschly”, if you were feeling generous) decorated. If you are looking for a Fresh seafood prepared in a local style this is the place to go. Very Friendly and helpful but extremely slow service. .do not go there if in a rush. . Non pemsavo si mangiasse ancora così bene nonostante l'aumento dei coperti. Quest'ultimi sono aumentati grazie al retro sull'esterno che è veramente molto bello. L'unico aspetti migliorabile è rappresentato da quegli ombrelloni (birra moretti 😒) che fanno buttare giù la particolarità dell'ambiente. Inoltre nelle serate belle e calde andrebbero chiusi per permettere un respiro più ampio, e il poter dare un occhio al cielo stellato non guasterebbe. I piatti sono ottimi, e ce ne sono di assortite varietà. Il vino della casa buono. I prezzi TOP. Ps. Vorrei dare un paio di consigli. I coperti sono tanti e giustamente il personale di servizio è folto, e lo stesso è molto operoso e effixiente. Però consiglierei di suddividere le aree e assegnarle ai camerieri, in modo tale da non sovrapporre le loro attività allo stesso tavolo (vedasi "posso togliere questo?
