I had a simple but pleasant lunch at Cacio e Pepe, a restaurant & pizzeria in the outskirts of Trento, on the hills.
As they specialise in Roman dishes, for starter I tried their carciofi (artichokes) "alla Giudia" (typical Roman Jewish cuisine) , a dish that is not easily found outside of Rome. As a second course, I went for the pappardelle pasta with artichokes (yes, I love them).
The starter was nicely fried and very enjoyable. The artichokes themselves were a little small for this type of dish (they generously serve two, so it's not a matter of them being stingy but just of the quality of the produce). The pasta was overcooked for my taste, but as for flavour it was tasty and harmonious.
This is not a cosy restaurant but a large number operation catering (at least at lunch) for people using the adjacent sporting facilities and hotels, and also local workers. However the room is spacious, airy and well decorated, and service is very well organised.
Service is, beside efficient as I noted, also friendly. Prices are perfectly fair in my opinion in view of quality...
Read moreOne side of outside area is covred around so no any views and no air, inside is nice and well organised, the table was not well cleaned, (there was hair and some food crumbs) the glass and jar for water had some spots. we have booked before going in any case. So about food, pizza was good enough and Swordfish was made with too much sauce so I could even feel the fish taste because of sauce, potatoes were tasty. Prices are average but for this swordfish 17€ is too much, also it was very bony. Service is nice and the woman who served us was...
