TLDR: Good wine, good food, kind service, Ok location. Overall mid-range winery experience :)
We came to this winery because it was a quick (but very uphill) walk from the city centre. When we arrived, the winery was empty and we were the only ones inside, which was nice. We passed by the owner of the winery on the way in who seemed very kind and welcoming, though he did not come by to speak to us.
We decided to taste the red wines and my detailed review of each is below. Overall the wine was very tasty, and the cheese/salami and mini burgers were yummy as well. We decided to sit inside, which was nothing special—if anything, a little generic (but nothing to complain about).
The descriptions of the wine were done very quickly and nothing too interesting was said.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves and spent about 50 euros which is not cheap but not crazy expensive.
Our thoughts on the tastings:
Rosa del maso 2018 Schiava grape Served at 12 degrees Eat with antipasto and aperitivo
Our thoughts: Light, slightly dry, quenching, woody notes
Lagrein 2020 More structured than Rosa del Maso Grown at a higher altitude To be paired with red meat but also salami and cheese
Our thoughts: Sweet smell Smooth More deep flavour Tangy
Vida Rubina
Named after the daughter of the owner Very aromatic and structured Pairs well with red meat
Our thoughts: Woody and very fragrant Bitter and...
Read moreAdverse comments first. The rooms were basic and not with the attractive antique furniture that is present in the reception areas and shown on their web site. Very small tv wall mounted, no room phone or hospitality tray. Although the bathroom was large most space was unused as the shower only accupied a very small corner. Wifi is free although in the room reception was not reliable. On the positive side the aircon and heating systems worked well.||As mentioned in other reviews although the inn is situated on a very busy main road the double glazed windows proved to be very effective. A car is essential as there is no bus stop near by. Ample parking which is free||A good simple breakfast, fresh rolls and croissant with home made jam and good Italian coffee.||My wife and I have stayed at other hotels in Trento. We liked Maso Wallenburg for its value for money with a comparable price some 30/40% less than town centre hotels.||And a very friendly and...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Maso Wallenburg for 2 nights. We were very happy with this lovely place. The room we stayed in had a lovely view, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and quiet despite it being on a very busy road, the windows were double glazed.||The breakfast was simple but pleasant. They offer an evening meal, the night we ate there we were offered a choice of pizza or lasagne, we had pizza which was okay but nothing special. I would go into town unless you are too tired then have the meal there but don't expect something gourmet.||The city of Trento, very close by, was terrific we didn't expect it to be so nice. Lots of beautiful buildings, a really great place. There are some really lovely restaurants and lots of shops.||The surrounding countryside is magnificent, you need a car to explore but I would highly recommend it,||We would stay there again if we should ever go back to...
