Strangolapreti are a type of gnocchi or dumpling made of spinach and stale bread, native to Trento. The name means "priest strangler".

"There are several legends to explain the name, all based on the anticlerical sentiment of the region.

One is that gluttonous priests were so enthralled by the savory dumplings that they ate too quickly and choked themselves.

Another legend states that wives would customarily make the dumplings for churchmen as partial payment for land rents (the Catholic church had extensive land properties rented to farmers), and their husbands would be angered enough by the venal priests eating their food to wish the priests would choke as they stuffed their mouths with it."

Excellent food and friendly service. FOOD: Ordered the carne salad and trout risotto. They were both excellent. I wasn't sure about the carne salad, but the taste grows on you after the 2nd or 3rd bite, and before you know it, the plate is cleaned. PRICE: I'd say average. Everything cost right around €30. LOCATION: Good location and away from the main streets. OVERALL: worth a visit. Looks like locals like it here also. Within 30min of opening, this...

Our host recommended this place. So glad he did. I am so sorry to Due Mori, I forgot to take a picture of the trout, and messed up and started to eat entrees, before I took pics. I cannot even post the ones we started, as it would do a disservice to the chef. It was all beyond good. I did get a pic of the ostrich and dessert tho, before destroying them. Due Mori is a must if in Trento. Service was great, wine was superb, and the...
