During my recent visit to Trento, I decided to try out the Welcome India Restaurant based on its reputation for Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations, with the food being rather average and failing to leave a lasting impression.
Let's start with the positives. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor and lighting created a cozy setting, which added to the overall dining experience. The service was also prompt and attentive, with the staff being friendly and accommodating.
However, the highlight of any dining experience is undoubtedly the food, and in this aspect, Welcome India Restaurant failed to deliver. The dishes I ordered lacked the depth of flavors and authenticity that I have come to expect from Indian cuisine. The flavors seemed muted, and the spices were not well balanced. The presentation of the dishes was also lackluster, without any artistic flair or attention to detail.
Additionally, the portion sizes were on the smaller side, considering the prices charged. While I understand that quality often justifies higher prices, in this case, the quality of the food did not align with the cost. It left me feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value for money.
Overall, Welcome India Restaurant in Trento may have good intentions, but it falls short when it comes to delivering an exceptional Indian dining experience. The average food quality, lack of variety, and relatively high prices make it difficult to recommend this restaurant over other Indian establishments in the area that offer a more authentic and...
Read moreI'm sorry to write a bad review, but we were disappointed and I don't think we'll be back again. First, the food. We ordered chicken biryani, kashmir pulao, and mughlai chicken. The biryani and pulao were drenched with coconut milk. They are nothing like the biryani we're familiar with. More like risotto with coconut milk. Granted, we're not native, so they might just cook a different version. But the taste of everything were just sweet, nothing spicy like they said. To their credit my son happily ate his mughlai chicken with rice. So, it's not tasteless, but definitely not the taste we're looking for. There were a lot of native indian eating there for an event though. So maybe we just chose the wrong menu. Second, their takeaway service. We ended up only eating like 3-5 spoonful of the biryani and mughlai+rice since they were all so heavy with the coconut milk. So we asked if we could have the remaining packed to go. I knew they do delivery service, so I thought it shouldn't be a big deal packing our almost full portion foods, just like for take away. The waitress very quickly came back with 1 box. Apparently they just threw together all the biryani+basmati rice+mughlai chicken in the same box. The already drenched biryani is now mixed with the mughlai chicken and its heavy gravy and no idea where the biryani ends and the basmati starts. I honestly think its a disgrace to their own cooking, packing...
Read moreThis was our very first time trying Indian food in a restaurant and we were not disappointed at all, in fact it was quite the opposite. The young man and lady who served us were both incredibly friendly and kind. They spoke perfect English and were very helpful throughout our visit.
We ordered two beef masalas and a fried fish dish (I cannot remember the exact name) and everything was simply amazing. The beef was cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the rice was delicious alongside it. Luckily the waiter recommended the naan bread and we tried the garlic one. It was heavenly and paired beautifully with the meal.
Both the interior and exterior were elegant, nicely decorated, and spotlessly clean. What surprised us even more was the price: only 57 euros for three main dishes, a side, a salad and three drinks. For the region and in general, this felt very fair and even on the lower side for the quality we received.
Overall we were beyond satisfied. Since we were only visiting Trento as tourists, this experience made us excited to seek out Indian restaurants elsewhere too. We are very grateful for the warm welcome and the...
