Hotel Ristorante Il Carrettino — Restaurant in Tortona

When we arrived we were surprised to see what seemed like 50 or so HGV lorries parked up ... then in the evening the main part of the restaurant was occupied by them - and they all seemed to be having a great time!! ||||We were asked to sit in the small restaurant in the front of the building ... which was fine, but being adjacent to the Truckers restaurant it was quite noisy! The menu was all in Italian (quite understandable) but we struggled to understand it even with the help of Google Translate. The food we eventually chose reflected the fact that we really did not understand what we were ordering. We ordered the BBQ Pork, which was a huge plateful of meat - with no vegetables. The front of the hotel looks inviting but is deceiving as the room we got was low standard and smelt awful that we asked for a room change which we got but still had a smell but not as bad as the first.|Air conditioning in the room is poor as the the unit could not blow out cold air at the temperature you set, it was just cool but not cold!|I can also add that this hotel seems to accommodate Truckers as there is a BIG parking space outside the hotel that we saw about 6 trucks there. |So it seems that this accommodation is suited for them for then for travellers in terms of the zero quality of the rooms.|The only upside was the dinner we had in their restaurant which we were sceptical about but as it was late had no other choice but what a surprise, it was...
