Ristorante L'Ulivo — Restaurant in Trevi

Words and pictures can never do justice to describe this special place. I’ll try nonetheless. My father, who has a very high bar for Italian food and restaurants, described l’Ulivo as the very best restaurant he has ever been to. He has made this known to everyone willing to listen for the past 27 years. I was finally able to experience it for myself with my brother in 2008. My father was right. The food, the service, and the experience were unsurpassed and I’ve eaten many times at Casa d’Angelo in Ft Lauderdale (best Italian restaurant in America). Anyway, Mauro served us over 20 courses during a two hour experience, including four desserts. Each tasting was perfection in simplicity, flavors, and the superior quality of its ingredients. It was the best food experience of my life to that point. I have since returned with my children (twice), again with my sweetheart, and this past year with my 3 sisters and 4 aunts (my father’s sisters). My brother and I wanted them to experience what our father had always raved about. As a group of 11 people this last visit, we also took up 5 of their rooms at Il Borgo so we could take our time for the dinner experience. We had called ahead to tell Mauro that we had very special guests with us for this visit. He could not have been more attentive and charming to our sisters and aunts. Among the 26 courses he served us was a rabbit ragu, which was one of the very best things I have ever tasted in my life. We took our special guests to visit Florence the next day. They loved it of course, but when we asked them all if they were ready for a nice dinner in the city, they asked if we could instead have dinner at l’Ulivo again. That’s exactly what we did and Mauro again served us a dinner to remember. My little aunties talk about our experience at l’Ulivo with everyone they know. This special place isn’t just a fantastic restaurant, it’s an experience...

Buon pomeriggio...... Oggi per la prima volta ho pranzato presso questo Ristorante a Trevi, su consiglio di un collega di lavoro. Ecco.... Intanto un enorme grazie ad Andrea per l'indicazione. Allora...... Il locale ha un Menù tipico da seguire..... Al telefono ho chiesto se l'intolleranza al Glutine fosse un problema... La risposta è stata "Nessun Problema", e devo dire che poche volte ho mangiato in Ristoranti così organizzato e con una qualità delle pietanze così elevata. Arrivati abbiamo scelto dell'acqua e del Vino rosso della Casa..... Ottimo.... Antipasto composto da molteplici portate.... Affettati formaggio mortadella a tranci alla brace, fatto il bis, olive frittata al tartufo arance condite bruschetta con salsiccia e spinaci...... Favoloso.... Spero di non aver dimenticato nulla..... Primi... Due..... Ravioli ricotta e spinaci con Tartufo grattato fresco, e tagliatelle con sugo di rigagli di pollo........ Meraviglioso..... Secondi..... Scamorza alla brace, patata cotta sotto la cenere, pomodori al forno con origano, brasato al vino rosso e tartufo, insalata di radicchio semi di girasole e arancia (squisita)...... Ad un certo punto è arrivato un cameriere che ha donato a tutte le donne una rosa....... Siamo rimasti piacevolmente impressionati...... Dolce.... Un piatto con degustazione di torrone al cioccolato, panna cotta ai frutti di bosco, zuppa inglese ed ananas........ Da aggiungere come ulteriore valore aggiunto....... Il personale è cortese e professionale........la pulizia del locale e dei servizi è perfetta....... Il costo al di sotto della proporzione per qualità e quantità ricevuta........ Concludo..... L'olio evo è talmente buono che è ho comprati 5 litri..... Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti..... Io ci tornerò sicuramente....... Grazie ai gestori...

We will remember our dinner here forever it was that good. The atmosphere felt like we were in a big family place with fireplaces blazing and servers that were extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was fabulous, it was a tasting menu and every plate was great. They really looked after us and took extra care to ensure my wife's lactose intolerance was addressed. Everyone was working hard to ensure we had a great dinner. Come hungry because they are not shy with the portions. It's not just a fantastic restaurant it's an experience not to be missed. I would highly recommend...
