Ristorante Locanda Di Nonna Gelsa — Restaurant in Umbertide

I enjoyed this meal so much. The restaurant sits in a small village just outside of Umbertide. The service is excellent and English is spoken if your Italian is lacking. The menu had a small number of items, all seasonal and amazing. The mixed antipasti is very good and we also had grilled porcini mushrooms cooked and seasoned perfectly allowing the flavour of the produce to speak for itself. We had a rabbit dish that was also great and a selection of desserts that finished the meal nicely. There is parking on site and a great collection of wine to select for your meal. We arrived at our beautiful hilltop air bnb Casa Luna after a nine hour drive from Matera. National holiday, so we didn’t have any food in. Our hosts Coen and Laura made us a reservation at Nonna’s. Looked closed, but niece and I went around to the back and discovered this wonderful outdoor garden location. . We had the best meal, wonderful service with our special little ginger gati. We ordered and happily shared between the four of us, several l pasta dishes, amazing Fiorentine steak, salad, house wine and dessert....

I prefer non meat or seafood dishes and there were almost no choices of the types of pasta or other Italian dishes I like. Tagliatelle with mushrooms is everywhere and ordered it by default. It was just fair and needed a lot of salt to get any flavor. Lettuce salad was just dry lettuce and you add olive oil and balsamic.
