L' Osteria dell' Isola — Restaurant in Unione Comuni Garfagnana

Unfortunately, it was a bad experience for our family. I didn't even imagine that it's possible to have such a poor food quality in Italy. First of all, the served bread was definitely not fresh at all. The soup was kind of strange, but probably it's a local dish and I cannot judge it. However, the so called grilled potatoes were heated in the microwave oven just in front of us. The grilled vegetables were served cold as well. The taste of vegetables was sour and I'm not sure if they were fresh. Grilled meat was also served cold and with lots of salt on top. Additionally, we ordered pasta for kids. Although kids were very hungry (they had only early breakfast and it was already lunch time), kids didn't finish even half of their portions. They said it was not tasty. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all. It's very disappointing to pay almost 80 eur for very low...

Very poor quality food. We stopped for lunch, menu a la carte but most of the options were unavailable. We ended up with pork ribs with roasted potatoes and baked onions. I couldn’t imagine it that bad: ribs were overbaked extremely dry and rare piece of meat on the greasy bone was dry and unchewable. Onions didn’t look too presentable but tasted ok. But potatoes- how one can mess up roasted potatoes is a mystery to me. Kids enjoyed tortellini though. House wine and antipasti were fine. Service didn’t worth whooping €3 per person surcharge, unprofessional and patronising in my opinion. Bottom line - next time we are passing by, I rather starve than go to this...

Great place. Stopped there by chance and had a nice lunch with our 2 kids (8 and 4 y.o.). We wanted pizzas and there was no menu. The waitress invited omis to go and talk to the chef directly. He was standing next to his pizza oven and all we had to do is explain what we wanted on top of our pizzas. Nice and easy and especially tasty. After that we went for a walk down to the lake (when exiting the restaurant turn left and walk 100 m then go down to the old church and turn right to follow the lake) where we took a swim with the kids. The day was really hot and the water really refreshing: the water was cold actually maybe melted snow (?). Had a good time...
