If you want a serious hotel with all the usual comforts and services, this is not it. But if you are seeking something of great character, a large comfortable room with armchairs and an extraordinary view across to the ancient town pozzo (water well), a big, high double bed, and absolute silence and privacy, then this might be it.||I arrived to a wonderful warm welcome from the co-owner, who explained how to park the car, how to cope with all the idiosyncracies of the room and bathroom -- and who offered an aperitivo in the vaulted restaurant downstairs, which was greatly appreciated. Rocca d'Orcia is an ancient village on a precipitous outcrop of rock, and boasts only 28 permanent residents.||The room rate includes an "Italian" continental breakfast -- simple but with great coffee.
