This little family run place was amazing! The pizza was incredibly tasty with a delicious thin dough! Also, they had some incredible bread that was probably made inhouse as well. Staff was super friendly and helpful even though our italian was very limited. We also had a salad and bruschetta which were both delicious! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fantastic menu, which was offered in many languages. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bagni di Lucca, as it's just an 8-minute walk from the main square/Hotel Regina.

There's of course a lot of pizza in Italy, much of it from unassuming local bars like this one. If you're a fan of the Neapolitan pizza craze in the UK then a lot of the pizza in Italy can be a bit disappointing. At Pippo's the dough is quite rustic, and while not Neapolitan in style, it's clearly well fermented, and it comes out light, flavourful and airy. I like the slight crunch and the grainy texture which maybe comes from semola....
