A gem!
We visited this restaurant twice this week. One time for lunch after a hike and today for dinner to celebrate our last day of a two week trip around Monte Amiata and Val d’Orcia region.
Both times were extremely pleasant experiences. Jonathan and his colleagues take the time to explain the menu and the specials. Those menus are made with very high quality local products and are given that little extra twist to make those products shine.
The dishes are packed with flavor and represent this beautiful region in an outstanding way. The kitchen does venture beyond the classics that you’ll find in decent osteria’s and truly accents the unique and seasonal flavors. For example the white ragu with vinegar santo or the stracotto di manza with a funny yet extraordinary satisfying puree on the side. Anyone who likes to cook recognizes the pleasure that was had creating the menu.
For everyone who is looking for a place that bridges the gap between local Tuscan cuisine and fine dining, this is the place!
A big shout out to Jonathan, Chiara and their colleagues to have the courage to venture further into the great tradition of Italian cooking.
Thank you for your...
Read moreGreat food, wonderful people, picturesque view! They are very allergy friendly (Just ask if you are unsure there are several people & they speak at least Italian, German & English). They offer glutenfree options as well as vegetarian plates. A lot of the food is conected to the region & they can tell you about it. They offer typical Italian food such as pasta but also refined variations of traditional plates. So if you want to have Italian dishes but with a modern lighter touch this is the place to go! From the apetiser to the desert everything was just so good. Food Heaven! Even if you are not into Art, if you are in the region you should definitely visit this place. We enjoyed both the artgarden (which was originally our plan for the day before we found this gem) as well as the restaurant very much. It's probably (don't have any ;) ) a nice place to visit with kids as well with the outdoor area to...
Read moreWe were in Seggiano in early July and found this casual looking restaurant in the Daniel Spoerri Garden. Jonathan, the owner, greeted us warmly and sat us at a table on the terrace. He shared the menu (handwritten on a chalkboard) and described some of the specials. We ordered the tagliatelle with truffle cream sauce (and fresh truffle shavings), stuffed zucchini with orzo and veggies as well as pasta with ragu sauce. These were some of the best dishes we have ever tasted - DELICIOUS! We rounded off our meal with a tiramisu flan (new to the menu) and berry gelato made with goat cheese, followed by aperitifs (ginger and fennel). Such quality at a very reasonable price - Bravo, Jonathan! Our only regret was that we weren't in Tuscany longer to...
