BEWARE! This place is now garbage!
Years ago, Doppolavore Le Foce gave us one of the most memorable meals we’d ever had. We were so taken by it that we flew from Los Angeles with family, planning several days in Tuscany just to experience it again. What we found this time was nothing short of disastrous, disappointing and regrettable.
When we arrived, we were informed that the restaurant is now under new ownership. Still, we held onto hope that the quality would remain. Instead, our meal was quickly derailed by our server, Luciano, who was astoundingly rude and dismissive from the start. Though my Italian is conversational, he failed to engage with my requests, brushing me off with barely-concealed impatience. When my mother asked for a smaller portion of steak, I caught him rolling his eyes.
As a vegetarian, I requested a primo selection to be severed as a secondo. Which he failed to honor. And when I ask for a green salad, he offered me a chicken salad. He then repeatedly tried to push unwanted dishes, like a caprese salad I had to decline three times before he finally stopped including it in the list of items that we wanted.
My parents ordered a reasonable portion of steak, yet Luciano brought an absurdly oversized cut, resulting in an eye-popping €114 charge. It was clear he cared more about driving up the bill than listening to our requests.
When I raised these issues with the owner, hoping for understanding, he defended Luciano’s poor service and made little to no effort to rectify our experience. Eventually, they sent over a manager, who was courteous and offered us complimentary drinks and a return meal – which we declined. The manager was indeed kind and completely understood my Italian.
Adding insult to injury, the food sub-par. I’ve had more satisfying pasta at American chain restaurants.
But the worst came later: I spent the entire night sick with food poisoning!! I’m serious!! I spent the remainder of the night curled up on the bathroom floor of our villa, instead of in a bed. And the next day, I couldn’t eat anything!!
This iteration of Doppolovo robbed me of a fantasy meal; and left a bad taste in my mouth; literally and figuratively speaking.
Please don’t make the same mistake we did. Save yourself the money, health risk, and disappointment. Doppolavore Le Foce is no longer worth a visit – avoid it...

⭐ Location Easy to find and conveniently placed with outstanding view.
⭐ Food
Pasta: proper and well-prepared. Tiramisu: good. Grilled vegetables: too dried out.
Overall, decent quality — nothing to complain about, but not exceptional either. I‘m sure the more sophisticated items on the menu would have more of a wow effect.
⭐ Decoration & Ambience Nicely decorated with a pleasant atmosphere.
❌ Service/Experience
One of the managers took multiple phone calls on speakerphone, loudly shouting throughout my dinner. I don’t mind a lively trattoria vibe, but this place feels more like a date spot — and the constant noise took away from the charm. The overall atmosphere didn’t feel welcoming. Hard to pinpoint, but it just didn’t make me want to stay. I found myself wanting to finish quickly and leave. No goodbye when leaving — small details like this make a difference.
👉 Summary: Some highlights (location, proper pasta, nice tiramisu), but the overall experience fell short. With a few small improvements in hospitality and atmosphere, the place could...
Read moreI do not often write reviews but I make time for this one. We’ve been in Italy for two weeks now (me & my girlfriend) and I need to say this is by far the best place we’ve been! We felt super welcome by the whole crew, they are all super friendly and everyone has clearly there jobs wich is fascinating to see. To give you some more context my Girlfriend doesn’t barely eat meat only on special occasions or when it’s really good. I go often to a famous meat restaurant in Belgium, where they serve what I thought very good meat. But this restaurant raised the bar to the next level. The men that explained every single type of meat did definitely know what he was talking about, I did say that we prefer a meat that was soft, we’ve ended up with the Frisona Baltica. And gosh it was. My Girlfriend did say: THIS IS THE BEST MEAT I’VE EVER EAT! And I need to say she was right. The recommended wine was super nice and did fit the meat perfectly. To the restaurant please keep doing what you are doing, and when I’m in Italy I...
