Horrible waste of your money, and you should go anywhere else but here! I had booked this through RCI, expecting the place to be decent, but it is far from it. If you book through RCI, you get the worst rooms that don't have a kitchen, just a tiny fridge. The bathtub they claim is excellent doesn't hold the water in, and the hot water runs out anyways. The shower is super little, and it leaks water on the ground. Plus, they don't even give you conditioner or lotion, just a small thing of shampoo and shower gel which they don't refill daily. Another thing is the TV doesn't work, and the air conditioning is the worst thing ever, so you're just roasting in your room during the summer. The bed is the hardest thing I have ever slept on, and eventually, they gave us a mattress topper, but it's still horrible and stained. The worst part is that they make you pay for an extra half-board for breakfast and cleaning. It's 280 euros for each person, so for a couple, it costs over $600 for them to give you more towels and eat a medical breakfast for a week. The breakfast is super dull since it's the same every day, and they don't refill things when they run out. It's all self-serve, including some bread that doesn't toast in the toaster, some sliced meat (the only good part), croissants, some pies that other people have touched, cereal without milk, and some fruit that doesn't look great. I swear it's the same stuff that they reuse everyday even if it's not good. The only redeeming feature is the coffee lady making you a cappuccino daily. The most challenging aspect is that no one speaks English, so you're stuck trying to explain what you need to someone who only knows a few words. I don't fault them for this as most of the staff is super friendly, but the website says they're multilingual. The only person who can help you is one lady who speaks English and is quite rude. We tried walking to the tennis courts, but they're very far away and not maintained. We took them up on the complimentary welcome drink, and the wine guy was terrific, but other than that, we were shunned by everyone. Don't even try to walk to the "town" because it's mostly older people that hate tourists, and nothing is open. We were stuck a few times without dinner because the restaurant was hosting a big group, so that they couldn't accommodate us, and there wasn't a single restaurant in town. There's nowhere to do laundry, and the closest town is 30 minutes away. While the views are lovely, there are too many bugs for it to be enjoyable, and it's so secluded. Overall we made the most of our experience by traveling to other cities almost every day and eating as much breakfast food as possible. It wasn't the worst experience, but I would warn against coming here as the accommodation could be better. If you want the seclusion you can defintiely find it at...

Read moreWe had a few choices to trade our timeshare in Italy, and with a lot of thought about our trip before and after 2 weeks in Tuscany, we chose Il Poggio Agriturismo. After 2 years, we finally got to go back to Italy and see a few of our favorite spots, but had missed Tuscany. This time we wanted to take time to stay at a villa where the locals are and partake in their culture, I am not exaggerating in the least when I say we have walked into a hidden gem with Il Poggio. The staff (especially Simona and Eduardo), together with housekeeping, have made this an exceptional vacation for us. First they letter us combine two weeks in one villa, thus not having to check out and re-check in another unit. They have brought us wood for our fireplace, fixed a burnt out light immediately, brought us a tea kettle, knives, and other things we are use to having at home as we are cooking in a lot because (1) we are vacationing off season and not much is open; but (2) we wanted to make our own food from the ingredients found on this farm as well as other local produce. My husband didn't have any reading materials, so they brought over a few books that were in english so that he had something to read while we are here. They have called and asked for information for us i.e. dinner reservations, spa information, etc. The entire workforce here have been delightful and always willing to help. We are here through RCI timeshare program and had many places to choose from, but when I saw the photos of the rooms, the full kitchen, the location within Rome and Florence, we decided to stay here. We will definitely come back to this place again. Having two weeks here has given us the opportunity to take smaller two day trips elsewhere while our luggage and other belongs remain safe here. If you get the opportunity to stay here, you will not be disappointed. I feel like a family member here. And, while RCI does not state this, they do accept dogs! I wished I would have known that, but because of COVID-19 and the extra precautions needed like vaccines, negative testing, and moving throughout three locations, it was best to leave her home. But maybe one day we will be able to bring her.
Looking for a lovely, comfortable room, with a full kitchen (not microwave), but all of the other amenities plus the pass to utilize the spa down the road has made this place an absolute GEM! Il Poggio does not...
