So it was St Stephen’s day- my wife and I were staying on an estate In a remote corner of Chianti- several of our plans collapsed due to unfamiliarity with local customs of this holiday. Our last ditch plan to stock up on local Maptepulciano wines in the grocery store even collapsed- making our way home without groceries or a plan- we happened upon this restaurant. We were welcomed like locals- and invited to share in house made Pici. The house wine was excellent- the Pici was memorable- and the charm of this experience warmed these two hungry foreigners for a long time to come. I am travelling Italy since 45 years, this was the worst pizza I ever seen. The dough was yellowish, kind of hard, looked unnatural, probably an instant product, the cheese tasted like a mixture of melted cheeses, it was not mozzarella. You can expect something like that at any pizza place in europe made by a non italian pizza chef. Piccolo ristorantino che incontra lo stile della cucina tipica Toscana e della rosticceria. I prodotti sono tutti di buona qualità non speciali come potrebbe essere la cucina casareccia di una nonna toscana però , buoni i pici al ragù anche se al suddetto ragù manca quella marcia in più, non estremamente saporito come ci si potrebbe aspettare , il resto dei primi rimangono nella media ,niente di speciale ma sicuramente validi ,con la carne a parer mio si alza un po il livello, con piatti molto molto semplici ma ben eseguiti , un encomio va sicuramente al personale di sala estremamente cordiali e preparati .
