Ristorante Poggiardelli, Montepulciano, Tuscany, Tucked down a winding Tuscan Road just outside Montepulciano & in the heart of beautiful Tuscan hills, resplendent with olive grove and vineyards, Ristorante Poggiardelli proved to be a hidden gem. We have been going to Tuscany for many years and love the food and wonderful restaurants and were delighted to find a new eaterie. Ristorante Poggiardelli, run by Giuseppe (Chef) and Marianne, alongside Chef Louisa, has a menu designed to tempt, tease and delight the palate whilst leaving the tummy full and contented. We ended up eating there 3 times during our stay as we loved it so much after the first visit. The meal was the equal of meals we have had in top restaurants in London The taste, the quality, the perfection, attention to detail and subtlety of tastes, were wonderful. The beef Tagliata with pepper and rosemary was beautifully cooked and presented. The first taste brought a zing to the palate- then softened after the first bite, as though it were melting gently on the tongue. The steak has a fire scorched, crusty outside and the first bite melts into a soft marshmallow of intense flavour. It is accompanied by a burst of other umami tastes. Can’t name them - my palate thanks them! The vegetables, an assortment of peppers, zucchini, onions, were roasted to the sweet spot of al Dente & mellow The Pici was elegant and the depth of flavour from the accompanying sauces were a marvel. We hardly spoke whilst eating except to murmur a grateful hmmmmm,,, The lovely waiting staff were friendly, informed and efficient, the surroundings especially in the garden felt like a warm cuddle. We started our meal with liver pâté crostini, a beautifully crafted appetizer that perfectly balanced rich, savory flavors with a delicate crunch. While the starter was delightful, the true star of the evening was the main course: the Fiorentina Canova steak. This aged steak was of exceptional quality, tender, and bursting with flavor. Before cooking, the chef presented the meat to us, allowing us to appreciate its quality and marbling—an experience that added to the anticipation of the meal.
The steak was cooked to perfection, seared on the outside while retaining a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Every bite was a testament to the chef's skill and the quality of the ingredients.
Adding to the charm of the evening was Mariana, one of the staff members, whose warm and attentive service made us feel right at home. Mariana was an absolute sweetheart, ensuring that our every need was met with a smile. Her genuine kindness and professionalism enhanced our dining experience, making it one we won’t soon forget.

Read moreWe have the pleasure to come to this restaurant while we were in Tuscany. Everything was absolutely delicious and amazing: from the moment we got there till we left. It’s a small restaurant on top of a hill surrounded by forest. It’s so quiet. We were served with Prosecco from the house when we arrived. They recommended us the antipasti and we tried the beef tartar and something like prosciutto crudo with buffala. The speciality is the bisteca fiorentina and they have more types of cow meat. The owner, Mariana suggested a type and she presented to us before it was cooked. She knows everything and the recommendation for the wine was simply perfect with the beef. We have no words to say how much we liked in there. The deserts are homemade also by her. We had the best Tuscany experience.
