I recently had the pleasure of dining at Trattoria del Contadino and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. But what really stood out was the exceptional service provided by our waitress. She was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the entire meal, making us feel right at home.

The cherry on top of our dining experience was when the owner went above and beyond to ensure we got home safely. When we realized there were no taxis available, he personally offered to drive us home in his own car. This act of kindness was truly unexpected and we were incredibly grateful. It's not often you come across a restaurant owner who cares so deeply about his customers.

This is one of those places where it genuinely pains me to leave a negative review, because the staff are kind, friendly, and clearly trying their best. But unfortunately, that doesn’t make up for the food — which was, frankly, terrible. Dishes were either overly salty, poorly cooked, burnt, or inexplicably cold. I was served grilled vegetables that were ice-cold. Some items we ordered never arrived at all. Service was painfully slow, and the atmosphere was underwhelming.

I understand there aren’t many restaurants in town, and if you’re staying for a while, you might end up trying them all — including this one. But honestly, don’t waste your time. The people are lovely, but sadly, they don’t yet know how to run a restaurant. I sincerely wish them growth and improvement, but I won’t be...

This gem is well off the beaten path. Trust google to take you all the way. We refer to Contadino as "the mountain restaurant" despite that it is lower elevation than our villa. This feeling is due to its remote location and the serpentine roads we must take to get there. However, we have taken that trip many times ...gladly, knowing what awaits us.

I gave only 4 stars for the atmosphere because it is rustic, but that is part of its charm. The food is wonderful and well priced. Don't miss the cockerel.
