Le Contessine — Restaurant in Unione Montana di Comuni delle Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda e Casternone

What an interesting experience. There is no sign on the road so you really have to work hard to find the tiny sign that says the address and then walk up a narrow path with stairs to the unassuming house. We weren’t sure there was anyone home but eventually, the proprietor and his young assistant showed up. Luckily for us, they were open and guided us into a casual Living space with a few tables. There was no menu, just a friendly proprietor, who could speak French with us, to our delight. He asked our preferences and made the food for us on the spot. We had tuna carpaccio and cod as an appetizer and then Polenta conchia with a local goat cheese from a formaggio just minutes away. Dessert was capped with a berry gelato. When we asked for the bill, we were told there wasn’t one and we should just pay what we wanted. What a wonderful experience....

My husband and I were staying in the area, and booked for dinner last Saturday evening. We initially couldn’t find the place, and were surprised to find it is a little house in the middle of a hamlet.

Ibra welcomed us immediately, was super friendly and catered to our vegetarian diet. The food was simple, but absolutely delicious. We didn’t have much cash on us, and we were a little concerned it would not be enough to cover our meal and wine. Ibra was so relaxed, he told us we could maybe get some cash the next day and pay them, or eat for free if we didn’t have money… we insisted he gave us a price, and did, and he asked if that was ok, so we gave him all the cash we had, which was more than he asked for. Per chi fosse alla ricerca di un “ristorante” mooolto suggestivo e fuori dal comune, beh “Le Contessine” è il posto perfetto!

In una giornata di sole ci accoglie sull’uscio Don Ilario, un signore che figura perfettamente la sua vocazione di Don, accogliente nei modi e con l’espressione di chi ha aiutato migliaia di persone. I ragazzi che lo aiutano sono solari e semplici nei modi, insomma una grande casa famiglia pronta ad accogliere i viandanti che grazie al passaparola sono venuti a scoprire questa realtà così unica e rara.

Abbiamo mangiato bene, chi era seduto nella grande sala con cucina annessa, chi come noi in una saletta più intima e calda grazie alla stufa posta nell’angolo. Il bagno è fuori, attenzione alla testa 😂 (capirete 😉) Cucina sana, senza troppi fronzoli ma alquanto gustosa, il risotto è stato il mio preferito 🥰 davvero top!!! 🚀

L’offerta è libera, diciamo però che è fortemente consigliabile una base di 25 euro, tranquilli non uscirete con la fame.
