La Nuvola sul Mare — Restaurant in Urbe

Location? Scary narrow mountain road. Is it worth it? Absolutely! I'm writing this review a year after my visit. Mostly because I can't stop thinking about the great food and service. We're talking REAL Italian food, not the stuff my fellow Americans are used to. All locally sourced, as in the mushrooms were from their own property, the beef from next door. Even the beer was from the next county. You would have to take out loans to get a meal like this in the US, and here this place is just low key doing it. The host was amazing. You could tell he absolutely loved what he was doing. All questions about the food came with stories and great details. All of that while they were having a celebration for all of the people who helped a neighbor whose roof burned down and there were a ton of people there. I will absolutely be coming back. I have to. Or else I'll never stop dreaming about the pettole.

La Nuvola sul Mare è un albergo con ristorante nel verde nell'immediato entroterra di Genova, posizionato al confine tra il Comune di Urbe e di Genova.

L'atmosfera generale è molto piacevole, le camere sono spaziose, pulite, spartane ma curate. Piumoni e cuscini nell'armadio, servizi in camera con doccia con acqua abbondante e calda (nessuna sorpresa di mancanza acqua calda a metà doccia). Vista alberi e verde dalla finestra della camera. Buona la connessione WiFi in camera e ristorante.

Il personale è discreto ma molto gentile e pronto ad aiutare. La giovane Agnese è sempre pronta ad assicurarsi che tutto vada bene ma anche il resto del personale è molto collaborativo, sorridente e pronto.

La posizione dell'Albergo non può offrire una vista sul mare, come ho letto in qualche altra recensione, ma dalla Nuvola sul Mare partono sentieri che portano a punti panoramici veramente mozzafiato.

Restare anche solo per un fine settimana è ottimo per fare una pausa, riposare testa e corpo oppure per partire verso i numerosi percorsi e sentieri, compreso l'Alta Via che passa proprio di qua.

Fuori la struttura, e sotto gli alberi, 4 grandi tavoli di legno con panche, sdraio e sedie per leggere o stare al sole. Due altalene per bambini, la vista del biondo cavallo e del calmo e cane nero grande e bravo, la gentilezza del personale completano il tutto. Non sembra di stare a due passi da Genova ma in una località montana.

Sul ristorante non posso dire molto perché non mangiando carne ed affettati non sono in grado di giudicare la maggior parte dei piatti del menu ma quello che ho scelto (minestrone e secondo a base di pesce) era buono, forse le porzioni non sono abbondanti come ci si può aspettare in un ristorante in mezzo al verde ma per me era sufficiente. Avrei gradito qualche scelta di contorni a base di verdura fresca o cotta e della frutta. Per chi non ha tempo o preferisce altro posso confermare che i panini sono ottimi così come i gelati artigianali. Hanno anche una buona e vasta scelta di birre e vino.

This hotel (2 stars, not luxurious but clean and well kept) is worth a detour. ||||Close to Passo del Faiallo in 'the middle of nowhere', but only a good 90 minutes from Genova, in total silence you will be warmly welcomed by the charming and very friendly staff. Rooms are simple but clean, own bathroom, very good food (homemade pasta etc.).||Directly situated on the Via alta Liguria you can make phantastic hikes and you will have views which are hard to match!
