Locanda La Voltarella — Restaurant in Valentano

A local cosy place. We came during a holiday and it was packed with locals which is always a good sign. Last table free. The waiter was arrogant to us visitors. Before I managed to even sit down and look at the menu he said we are having a polenta dish. No debate. Before we managed to clarify what we want to drink he put 1/2l wine on the table. I refused it and I said I am driving, cannot drink. When asked for the bill he brought a bill with no breakout, just the final sum, overcharging us for wine we didn’t order. Locanda molto tipica in tutto situata in pieno centro a Valentano, c'è possibilità di fare più menù fissi a prezzi veramente ottimi. Noi abbiamo preso un menù da 18€ che comprendeva un antipasto ed un primo ed abbiamo preso del Pecorino Fuso che era veramente buonissimo e delle pennette alla carbonara che erano buone, giusto un pochino l'uovo troppo cotto, ma proprio di pochissimo, ottimo il guanciale. Poi abbiamo preso un menù da 24€ che comprendeva antipasto, primo, secondo e contorno ed ho preso un antipasto della casa che conteneva una frittata con patate che era buona, solamente che era fredda, delle olive molto buone, delle melanzane buonissime, un piatto di salumi (mortadella, lonza, salame e prosciutto crudo) che erano nella norma con una bruschetta di pomodorini ed infine dei nervetti veramente buoni. Come primo ho preso delle Bighe all' aglione che erano buone e come secondo un Bujone d'Agnello veramente buono dove si sentiva anche parecchio il sapore che deve piacere. Come contorno ho preso una cicoria ripassata che però non mi è piaciuta molto che era abbastanza amara. Abbiamo aggiunto al menù anche una Panna cotta ai frutti di bosco (4€) che era molto buona. Conto finale di 46€ (1 menù da 24€, 1 menù da 18€ ed un dolce 4€)che è veramente ottimo considerando anche le porzioni. Voto...

The menu isn't extensive but I've never been disappointed with my choice & the red house wine goes down a treat.
