I don't recommend this place. It has lots of potential, but every corner is being cut. Unfortunately, in many of these situations, there's a slimy, nasty, cheap businessman trying to get as much money out of you while keeping the standards as low as possible.
The show had an incredible pianist playing as you come in, which was nice, but the actual show was average. If you've seen a high-class cabaret show before, you won't be too amazed with this. It felt a bit put together to fill time.
After the event, I woke up with multiple bites all over my body and we went straight back to the St. Regis hotel after the show, so I'm certain it was the venue. There were also other reviews talking about bites from as late as 2 years ago, so definitely a venue issue they haven't got sorted.
Regarding the wine and food, the wine is 7 euros if you go to the supermarket, so definitely budget. The bar is very expensive if you wish to get another drink instead. The food was abysmal. I could only describe it as prison-type food, think sloop for each of the six-course meals, barring one plate of a few slivers of very overcooked steak for the meat menu. I only took a couple of photos of the food towards the end as I realized it was only getting worse.
As for the transfer, they cut corners by having the driver not have the right license to legally take us from Venice to the mainland. I know this because we were stopped by several police officers who questioned the driver and us, leading us to go to the police station to write out a report. We arrived for the transfer at 8 pm, had the police incident, and didn't leave until 9:30. When we did arrive, we were given no apology and ushered to our seats in a hurry. After the show, they told us we didn't have to pay for the transfer and to sign a document to cover their own back legally so they wouldn't get fined by the police. I do not believe they did it out of the goodness of their heart. When I asked for further compensation, I was shouted at and threatened that the police...
Read moreattending the carnival opening was an absolute pleasure. it was hands down one of the most memorable nights of my life. i got to dress in a classic carnival costume and i really felt like a princess in a disney movie.
the venue itself was a delightfully charming and opulent, setting the perfect stage for an unforgettable evening. the performance was beyond entertaining, i was glued to my seat the whole time. each act brought something new and exciting to the table, keeping me hooked from start to finish.
let's talk food. dinner was with multiple courses that were interesting. i appreciated a lot the presence of vegetables. the dishes were a mixed bag, some were absolute flavour explosions that left me wanting more, while others were just okay.
overall, the carnival opening was mesmerising. from the captivating performances to the deliciously unpredictable dinner, it was a night that will go down in my personal...
Read moreUnnaceptable. This was the most catastrophic night out I have evere had. I’ll put it simple: As we were offered q welcome drink, My missus asked for a Mojito. None of the 3 bar tenders knew how to prepare a mojito and finally we were given a vodka soda a mint. The dinner started 1 hour late. The first part of the diner (1hour aprox, and one of the longest in my life) the piano player delighted us with an hour of sad piano songs. I could see the people around us falling asleep as we were. Up to 3 times I asked the waitress to switch on the AC as it was very hot inside. I could see other people complainig about it, bus apparently the owner decided not to spend a coin in AC as there were only 12 people in the hole theatre. Now I understand why we were only 12 idiots having dinner there. What to say about the show… poor, very poor. We left before the dinner finishes. My biggest waste of...
