Good atmosphere, lovely staff that gave us a warm welcome, but the night we went, things seemed a bit improvised: The menu was hand-written (which is a nice idea, but numerous words were illegible), but there was only ONE copy of the menu (seriously!) that was handed over to the next table, which took quite a long time, also for the tables surrounding us. Food was good, but quantity-price ratio wasn’t too good if you ask me. Espresso was - sorry to say that - absolutely horrible and watery, no crema - I have never had a worse espresso in Italy. Side note (I don’t know if it’s only me seeing this): It seemed as if all the dishes our table ordered consisted of the same basis, but with different ‘toppings’ (details matter: three of us ordered spaghetti aglio olio and got linguine instead). This is supposed to be a constructive feedback that the restaurant could use to improve their service. Instead, the owner seemed to choose the path of giving a snappish remark that has been changed to another snarky comment right after I updated this comment. A rather sad and unprofessional reaction.
Btw: I haven’t ordered spaghetti with tuna nor with parmesan (as the owner seems to insist), I had linguine...
Read moreA hidden pearl. We found this restaurant by chance on a Sunday at 2pm when every restaurant was already full and turning away customers. The restaurant manager consulted with his colleagues and took potty on us. They set up a special table to be able to serve us. We had to wait about 30 minutes because they were completely full and it was worth the wait. Certainly one of the best meals we ever had in Venice. My husband who is Italian from Veneto region gave them 2 thumbs up and usually he is not easily impressed. There were three of us and wanted to sample different dishes so we ordered two different dishes each. Every dish was full of made with fresh ingredients, light and perfectly flavorful. The staff was very warm and friendly even while we kept them from closing late for for their own lunch break. It is out of the way because the restaurant is located on the island of Lido but the food is so good that we are already planning to return for...

The owner said: I can only give you "spaghetti al pomodoro"--to which we reply "perfetto." Before our pasta arrived they brought us some "Cicchetti" (probably leftovers from the day as the kitchen was closing) but we thought that was a really nice gesture. I ordered one glass of wine, my daughter one soda and then two coffees. They charged us 120E which, even if we had ordered the "cicchetti" is an absurd amount for a plate of pasta al pomodoro. As they say in Argentina:...
