Trattoria Da Angelo — Restaurant in Vicenza

I came to this restaurant twice in a week: once with my parents and once with a friend of mine. The first time went pretty well. We all ordered fish dishes: grilled local octopus as a starter, two grilled fish and one mixed au gratin 'Angelo'. I also ordered some vegetables on the side, in particular spinach and some zucchini, both cooked in a pan. Beside the fact that my fish had been immersed in olive oil (really, too much), the food was that tasty that the attitude of the waiter didn't bother that much. He was a bit rude and it seemed like it didn't really want to answer our questions.

I decided to propose this place to a friend of mine because he doesn't eat meat but the restaurant offers many meat-based dishes and I thought "if they're that good with fish, they must make meat really well too". Well, no. It was a disaster and I was ashamed of having suggested this place to my friend. The same waiter as a few nights earlier was very rude and treated us as stupids when asking him questions like "what dish do you suggest?" and "I don't know how many grams the steak should be. Can you help me? What't the usual portion for a regular man?". And the answers were like "I don't know. It's up to you.". My friend only likes very well cooked meat, but the first time they brought him a rare one. We sent it back and asked to cook it better and then they brought a steak burnt outside and rare inside. He coudn't eat it so he asked for a box and cooked it at home. Recommended for the fish but not...

Extremely friendly and fun-spirited servers and staff welcomed us obviously Americani into what felt like their personal dining room. Just walking upstairs to the dining room, we were intoxicated by the Italian fresh cooking aromas. Made a reservation 2 hours prior and even offered our choice of table despite being full with locals who clearly know a great place for dinner. Amazing pizzas, delicious rosemary on perfectly done fresh filet of beef and grilled squid rounded out our table of 5. Sorry I didn’t get pictures of all the dishes! Will return soon and recommend if you’ve got guests visiting for a flavourful meal...

In primis un ambiente veramente squallido. Sembrava uno di quei posti dove ci si ferma stop&go quando si fanno i viaggi di lavoro. Un servizio a dir poco pessimo: continuava senza sosta a venire nel tavolo chiedendo "avete deciso?", lanciava le bottiglie in aria senza alcuna motivazione mettendo in pericolo le persone sedute al tavolo. Prezzi senz'altro SUPER ECCESSIVI paragonati alla qualità del cibo. Al termine della cena è venuto il solito cameriere che credeva di essere il padrone del mondo intero per proporci i dolci ma, una volta che gli chiedemmo i prezzi dei dolci ha detto che "non so i prezzi ma vi dovete fidare". Eh no caro, non ci dobbiamo fidare soprattutto di chi non ha alcun contegno verso i clienti. Allora, dopo aver insistito, ci portò il listino prezzi dei dolci e da lì capimmo il motivo per il quale aveva fatto finta di non sapere i prezzi visto il costo (che è la 1ª volta in vita mia che un cameriere non sa ricordarsi i prezzi quando IO CREDO che dovrebbe far parte del suo lavoro sapere i prezzi o qualora non se li ricordasse avere sempre con sé il listino prezzi). Ci fù, per fortuna l'ultima, cosa che ci fece pentire di essere andati lì: un normale caffè ☕️ 1,50€. Spero di non tornarci mai più sia per il pessimo atteggiamento del cameriere (che tra l'altro avevamo chiesto ad una sua collega per i dolci e ci mandò lui perché disse che era "l'esperto". Si, l'esperto a far incaz zare i clienti!). Mi domando come facciano ad avere un voto cosi alto su Google Maps. Cioè sono serio, non capisco proprio.... mi sembra sia tutta una falsa dato che ho controllato diversi profili e la maggior parte ha solo da 1 a 10...
