Ricardo & Marco Bassini and their family run this fantastic, authentic Tuscan hotel and top class restaurant just outside Volterra. We stayed 4 nights and felt like part of the family by the time we left. Service, food, quality of both the rooms and restaurant was excellent and all at a fantastic price. ||||Ricardo manages the hotel and Marco is the chef. The restaurant (in season it's open for lunch and dinner 6 days per week) offers great food (huge choice too!) at brilliant prices. Popular with locals too. Tuscan and Sicilian dishes (the brothers hail from Sicily originally) are offered along with fresh made pizzas. Try the steaks (tagliate) or a bistecca alla Fiorentina if you're hungry (ideal for 2 to share).||||Our room was spacious, had TV, wifi and two showers in en-suite bathroom! Great water pressure for shower too.||||Location is good for Pisa airport (an hour away by car) and for exploring Tuscany (Siena, Florence, Chianti). Montepulciano area and Arezzo area are bit further away. Own transport is a must. ||||I thoroughly recommend il Vecchio Mulino. One of the best hotels I've stayed in anywhere, and I've stayed in...

The pool is brilliant if you want to lie around in the sun shine and the evening meals a great opportunity to taste food cooked by an Italian mama with produce that comes from within 5km of the property. I don't like pasta and I loved every mouthful that was put before me !|This place is run by a family and that makes it really special.|I think all the rooms offer the ability to cook and if you like a cooked breakfast that may be useful.||By the way they also grow grapes and olives on the property and so you can get a bottle if their olive oil to take away.||Only one question left. When can we get...
