Murray's Fish and Jerk Hut — Restaurant in Jamaica

This place is just chaos! Customer service is extremely poor. I ordered 2 servings of jerk fish, steam bammy and orange juice. I was told that the jerk fish is done to order and so I would be required to wait 20 minutes. I then ordered jerk pork while waiting fo the fish but that was undercooked. After waiting 45 minutes (without anyone coming to check on me and my family) I had to go back to the jerk hut to see if my fish was ready. To my great dismay, they only prepared 1 even though I paid for 2. I then went to check on the bammy, only to be told that they can't be found. Instead of 2 juices, I only received 1 and had to point that out to the person making the delivery. All this time other persons who came after me were getting their orders delivered to them and most of those orders were similar to mine. I then went to speak with someone in charge and after explaining my plight to her, she just nonchalantly told me to go to the cashier and ask for a refund. Additionally, a customer was telling her that they need more persons behind the counter to assist on crowded days like the 1 we were experiencing. She none too politely informed him that no they didn't need anymore help and when the place is crowded they simply have to wait to get served, as that was not a fast food joint. At this point I was livid and was all too happy to claim my refund. The 1 fish that I received was not jerk as I had ordered, I simply got something resembling boiled fish, with lots of pepper. The servers for the most part always wore a frown and behaved as though you are being a bother when you ask questions. I heard a lot of good things about this place and that's why my family and I decided to stop by and give it a try, but it was nothing short of disastrous. The only thing this place has going on for it, is the ambiance and the mannish water. New management is definitely needed as everyone who works there seem to be doing...

I have driven past Murray's for many years but never stopped.. All I can say is.... That will never happen again!! Let me start with customer service: - from the moment you enter, the staff are pleasant and well mannered, placing your order, the same. Collecting your order, ghe system is simple, fair and effective... Great Team - 👏🏾👏🏾.. As this was the first visit, we ordered take-away - let's talk about the food: - Our meal was fried fish, steam fish, festival, steam and fried bammie... Portion sizes - very generous and well worth the money, both fishes were seasoned to cooked to perfection. I love my festival when it's just fried, it has a melt in the mouth texture, so my only suggestion to Murray's is to maybe have a designated person on festival cooking duties. Aside from that, the festival was on point... The fried bammie was a little on the thick side, I love my bammie, crisp on the outside and soft and yummy on the inside, I think because it was so thick it was missing that crunch and chew. Just a little tweak and for me, it's 100%. The steam bammie was also a little too thick but because it was had with the steam fish there was plenty of juice. It was all very much enjoyed. We will be visiting Murray's again I the very very near future. Oh one last thing, this is just me personally but it would be nice to be told the type of fish that is being fried, steamed. Also if at all possible, a selection of fishes to choose.... Well done all round. We will consider eating in next time the atmosphere and seating arrangements were very inviting... Looking forward to trying the...

The food was delicious, filling, appropriately priced and served in a timely nature despite having limited staff. And speaking of the staff, I wish I knew our waiter's name because he was SOOO VERY attentive to my group of 5 at the table as well as his other tables. He kept coming back from time to time to find out if we needed anything else or if all was well and he refilled our water when required. SUPERMAN does exist but his secret identity remains a secret. Probably doesn't help that I was hella tired and tipsy from the Appleton Estate Rum Experience tour when I arrived at Murray's Fish and Jerk Hut as suggested by Appleton Estate's bartender, Randeen. Btw, if u haven't been on the tour yet, you're missing out on a lovely and unforgettable experience. Now, back to the food. Did I mention that it was DELICIOUS?! I sampled the jerk rabbit and curry goat from my friend's plate and had escoveitch fish, festival and bammy on mine. I've been away from Jamaica for a solid year and this place made me wish I could stay here forever 😭😔💔. This little taste of home will have to hold me until I take vacay again but God knows that the food and customer service didn't disappoint. Needless to say, we tipped our waiter. Wait...
