Sashimi was really fresh. We ordered the big donburi set which included 3 different types of shrimps and many other fishes (swordfish, abalone, ikura roe, etc) and all were great. If I were to pick my top 3 favourite items, it would be the ikura roe, swordfish and shrimps.
We also ordered the tamago in the end as we saw someone delivering the raw eggs to the restaurant and it looked really big. It was really juicy and fluffy at the same time, even better than those you would get from specialty store in Tsukiji market, etc.
It is definitely worth the trip if you are around the area, this is Japanese hospitality and food quality at its best. The owner of the place also just turned 84 years old yesterday so happy...
Read moreOne of the culinary highlights in Japan. We had tried the omakase before which featured fresh fish from Hokkaido, but this time we went straight to the goods: uni chirashi don and bluefin o'toro. The otoro melts in your mouth like butter. I had mine with sushi rice. You can judge how good a chef is based on the rice.. in this case the nigiri was perfect from the way it wss seasoned to the firmness as if it was held together like magic but falls apart at the perfect moment. There is no English menu but staff is friendly...
Read moreThe kaisenson was delicious and pretty. The uni in that don is the best I have tasted in the week I spent in Hokkaido. I love the wide variety, the pretty display and freshness of the sashimi. They kindly explained the local uni fishing season was over (June to August), so their decadent uni bowl that I was hoping to try was not available.
The staff were very kind to my boy. In addition to cleaning up our 3 spills, they applied burn medicine on him, and served him a cooled bowl of soup. We really appreciate that.
This is an only cash place. Remember to bring about 10000yen per pax to be able to have a variety of choice. We brought enough to share only 1 super special kaisendon (80000 yen) to share...
