JUST FIND IT!!! AND GO! First when I found Thomas, I didn't know if I was really dreaming...It's that good! Words are not enough to describe how incredible this place is!

I mean seriously its bar none the best French/Italian restaurant I have had the pleasure to eat at arguably anywhere. I don't know how the owner Toshi-San does it. He just knows he has got something special and he shares it! He also speaks English which is even more so amazing to. He understood right away that I love food and I care about where it comes from. "Ristorante Thomas" or Mr.Thomas is a true precious diamond. They only serve sustainably harvested oysters from Shimada-Suisan Oyster Farm and everything is organic and crafted with perfection and a little imperfection to make it so human and honest. The oyster gratin are behemoth and very cheesy.

Our kids (4 of them) were all lucky enough to have a kids menu with handmade pizza, handmade cut "a little spicy" french fry wedges, a drink, and ice cream for desert.

My wife and I had an an amazingly Creamy Salmon Tagliatellli. I told Toshi-San that while I loved gnocchi my wife usually didn't go for it so I was going to pass on it this time. "HOWEVER" to my surprise, he kindly plated these marvelously large handmade fluffy gnocchi with the pasta. They were heaven! Really! I was so happy because I was just tired of eating japanese food that I ordered a sort of wagyu steak. I was expecting something sort of smalll but it was so much more epic than that. The steak came out on these handcut treated wood plates with sauted organic vegetables and these puff pastries to pair it. I was kind of questioning it at first, and then I became a believer. So Good!

He came out and asked how we were, we conversed and talked about food. I told him about my love for ratatouille and then soon after he came back gave me this small ceramic ramiken and then "Try This!" It was freshly made well cooked ratatouille! I was blown away.

He told me about his special stone oven he had been building in the back. The biggest I had ever seen, with a custom cast iron skillet build in...I was starting to get the whole picture. This is that kind of place you hear about but never have the chance to find. But we did! We were lucky! I feel lucky to be able to have found it on our journeys.

It's a true diamond in the rough. Cost wise, it was more than reasonable considering it was dinner and we were eating out. The kids pizza sets were ¥1000 each roughly. Pretty good! My wife and I's dinner were about ¥3000 yen and change roughly...If we were to eat anywhere else around Miyajima it would likely cost us the same or more and everywhere is japanese "anago"...and japanese style food...So this was just a real life saver for us. The kids didn't want to go home.

The pizza they also deliver...And I have to say that finally say that it was 100% worth going out of our way to find it and get there...Its about 10 - 15min taxi from Miyajima Ferry Station. To anyone go there! You won't be disappointed..It was so good! I think I am...

An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Thomas 🍽️

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Thomas, and from start to finish, it was nothing short of spectacular. We both ordered Set B—my wife chose the shrimp mayo pizza, while I went with the Primavera pizza topped with prosciutto. For our main, we both opted for the wagyu, and wrapped up with dessert and an iced latte each—cheesecake for me, tiramisu for her.

The salad course was a showstopper on its own. It arrived beautifully plated on a rustic wooden board, featuring kale salad, whitefish carpaccio, prosciutto-wrapped mascarpone, and two types of bruschetta—one with shrimp and the other with squid. Every bite was fresh and flavorful, setting the tone for the meal.

Then came the pizza and wow. This was hands down the best crust we’ve had in Japan, with an incredible cheese pull that added to the experience. The shrimp on my wife’s pizza was incredibly fresh, and my prosciutto perfectly complemented the Primavera’s vibrant flavors.

Next, the wagyu. Melt-in-your-mouth tender and served with a sauce that deserves its own spotlight I’d seriously love to get that recipe. Every bite was rich and perfectly cooked, and my wife was absolutely in heaven.

For dessert, the staff surprised us with a custom platter featuring adorable sketches of our faces in chocolate, such a thoughtful and personal touch! They even included a little handwritten thank you note. My cheesecake was delightful, but my wife’s tiramisu stole the show. Paired with the shaken iced latte, it was the perfect ending.

On top of the outstanding food, the service was top-notch. There wasn’t an English menu, but the owner kindly provided a translated tablet and explained each set thoroughly. The entire team was incredibly sweet, attentive, and welcoming.

We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Thomas is a hidden gem, and my wife and I are proud to say, we’re officially...

This restaurant is as inviting as they come. The outside is a nice little home with many windows. As you approach on the narrow cobbled walkway, you can smell fresh bread and pasta cooking from inside. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, comfortable, and classy. I got the full course meal and can say with confidence that very few meals I've had matched it in quality. The appetizers on their own blew me away. The chef's salad was made with local ingredients and was coated with a decadent vinaigrette that gave a lovely, acidic kick. Alongside the salad were local fish caught and prepared here. If there is nothing else I can say for this restaurant I would praise their excellent flavor pairings. The fish had a wonderful dill, the fried oysters had a lovely tomato sauce. Afterwards, we got the ratatouille pizza. The cheese paired excellently with the squash and balsamic. Shortly after, we received an amazing pasta with a light cream sauce prepared with oysters, clam, and mushrooms. The mushrooms provided an amazing umami flavor which matched excellently with the fishy flavor of the oyster. The sauce wrapped it all together with an amazing creamy texture. To top off the already succulent meal, we ended with roast duck. The duck was served rare alongside mushrooms, yuzu slices, balsamic sauce, and potato. The sour notes of the yuzu really enhanced the duck's subtle, savory taste. To top off the whole dish was a sweet balsamic sauce. The medley of flavor provided an incredible culinary experience. The dessert was simple and fitting end to a large and fulfilling meal: tiramisu. It was made with heavy cream and added to by small bits of fruit. It was a light dessert and the coffee taste gave a truly satisfying end to am overall lovely experience. The service was stellar the whole time and I couldn't have...

This is an amazing restaurant, with most likely the best and most friendly service I've ever received. My pizza was delicious, and came with a handwritten note! Our waiter was very friendly, respectful and thoughtful. The best service I've received in Japan so far! If I ever come back to Japan, I would most definitely love to come back to this restaurant. I'm very glad I was able to come to this place and have this experience!
