During a recent visit to this guesthouse, we noted several significant concerns regarding structural integrity, maintenance, and operational standards, observations that appear related to the localized soil erosion event reported approximately 11 months ago. (9 Nov 2024)
Observed Structural and Safety Issues The stability of the guesthouse appears visibly compromised following the soil erosion incident. Specific observations include: • Foundation Damage: The concrete structure near the base shows visible signs of peeling and deterioration. • Safety Barriers: The original roadside safety barriers are missing. They have been replaced only by sandbags, which we assess to be an inadequate measure for hazard mitigation compared to the previous permanent infrastructure. These foundational issues raise a serious concern regarding the guesthouse’s long-term stability and the potential risk of further structural failure.
Maintenance and Cleanliness Standards The overall cleanliness of the premises was found to be unsatisfactory: • Guest Rooms: Ceilings exhibited noticeable staining, suggesting water damage or seepage from the roof. • Sanitary Facilities: The toilet and shower area presented a persistent and distinct musky odor. • Dining Area: The ground-floor restaurant (izakaya) displayed mud staining on counters and floor surfaces. Furthermore, the area had a significant mosquito issue, causing discomfort during a brief period of use.
The guesthouse and the ground-level restaurant appear to be managed solely by one lonely owner.
Given the visible structural damage and sub-standard maintenance detailed above, it is our opinion that the current state of the facility poses a potential safety risk and is not suitable for commercial operation. Prospective patrons are strongly advised to be informed of these conditions and exercise caution before making a decision to utilize any services offered by...
Read moreThe location is where the animals, birds and bees are. It overlook the pacific ocean, right beside the river delta connected next to the sea. I see fish in the river so near, and raptors and herons flying and stopping right above the mansion.
The pictures and reviews that lead me to book this place had changed a great deal.
The place seems to have come out of a hurrican disaster movie, mud everywhere, rusty kitchen equirment.
Part of the foundation of the mansion is exposed!
Even the owner feel its dangerious and his wife and daughter had already moved out of the place.
But since the owner is staying here to put his life at risk to serve us, i guess we will not b the only 1 who die will the building calapse into the river bank, which is what happan last Oct 2024. The concrete carpark, road side barrer, 2 vending machines and outdoor toilet are all drop into thw river bank.
The izakaya no longer serve other client as there is no gound floor toilet any more. Maybe becourse of the incident, both his smile and the great food he served is losed.
The owner did say that the local goverment will be helping him to secure the building. But there is 2 updates videos by him but seems that he is still waiting for the help from authorities.
Hope he get his help soon as the mansion will drop into the river bank, not a will or...
Read moreGreat place to stay and eat - outstanding prices for both! The proprietor (host) took the time to eat, drink awamori, and watch TV with me - despite my poor Japanese.
Ask him if he has anymore smoked squid with mayo, add shichimi...おいしい 😋🍴💕‼️
There's not much else nearby, civilization-wise. Which is honestly sometimes a good thing. This place is great for those needing a start/finish point for exploring the Yanbaru...
