森のふくろう — Restaurant in Higashi

Everything about this place is perfect. The owner was incredibly sweet and made us feel like old friends as soon as we walked in the door for the first time. The food and drinks are delicious, and the atmosphere is so peaceful that I had a hard time leaving.

Outside the restaurant is a sizable waterfall, feeding into a stream that runs along the front entrance. Rushing water, chirping birds, and steady raindrops formed the calming background sounds to easy conversation. There’s also karaoke later in the evening if that’s more your speed.

【のぶたと南の島生活inやんばるを食べ尽くせ❗26】 この日は東村の挨拶回り。 東村は人口が少なくて、飲食店も限られでいます。 唯一、BMしているお店は有銘にある『森のふくろう』さん。当然、ランチタイムは『森のふくろう』へ向かいました。 幹線道路を走っていると、小川に沿って山奥に向う村道にデカい看板が立っています。 それには『森のふくろう』さんは夜営業のみの営業時間が掲載されていました。 ランチはやってないのかなぁ～と不安になりましたが、一応、お店までダメ元で行ってみましょう。他に行く宛もありませんからね（笑） お店は、小川に並走する村道の行き止まりにありました。とても自然豊かな場所です。 駐車場の営業中の看板も裏返し(^_^;) これはランチタイムやってないのかも・・・駐車場から歩いて母屋とお食事処に分かれている建物に向かいます。 小川の橋を渡ってお食事処にたどり着き、店内を覗くとお店の方が居ました。 確認すると営業しているとのこと。 店内に入ると、宴会場もあるかなりキャパのあるお店です。 窓側にはふくろうのオブジェが沢山ありますね。 ランチは、 ふくろう定食　1,200円 ふくろうそば　700円 の２種類のみ。この日は、ふくろうそばは無くて定食のみとのこと。 ふくろう定食は、自家栽培や地域野菜を使っているとのことで、季節により内容が変わるそうです。 それが写真のふくろう定食。 メインは豚肉の燻製なんだそうで、確かに風味が良くて美味しい燻製ですね～ 副菜が豊富なヘルシーな定食で、単身赴任で野菜不足なnobutaには、とても有り難い定食でしたよ。 お店は、オープンして20年が経つそうで、親子で経営されているようで、お隣の母屋は一棟貸のペンションなんだそうです。 4月から6月に掛けて蛍が楽しめると話されていました。 美味しかった...
