Hiro Coffee farm is more than a typical farm or cafe. It is a place with a soul and story to tell. We had freshly brewed ice coffee made by Tomoko-san, the owner of the farm and she shared that her farm used to be much bigger but due a massive typhoon, it destroyed a large part of her farm, and she had to start over from scratch. The farm was started by her father and she's running it to maintain his legacy and efforts that he had built up.
Tomoko-san is a truly admirable fighter, single-handedly running the farm with her 5 cats. She's also very hospitable and would kindly recommend places for us to go, event though she spoke Japanese, and we spoke English.
The arabica coffee varietal she's growing is unique and not commonly found. It exudes a very different taste and strength.

They use a blend of their own beans grown in Okinawa along with Brazilian beans, and the result is a smooth and easy drinking cup of coffee. Usually, I take milk, but the coffee is so good that there is no need to add anything! The owner is also delightful and extremely knowledgeable about coffee and the local area. If you find yourself in this part of Okinawa, be sure to stop by for a genuine local experience. It's one of the best places to try coffee beans...
Read moreA really cool stopping point if you're traveling along the NorthEastern side of Okinawa maybe from a drive from or to Cape Hedo a the very north point of the island. They harvest the coffee right behind the place. The host is quite enjoyable and would even let you see the coffee plants and chickens in the back. Lots of fun things in the place to include games. Plenty of parking in front. She has a variety of coffee choices and even tasty little cookies to go along with it. Enjoy this like quaint and comfy...
