Haru Kitchen — Restaurant in Higashikawa

Firstly, you should make a reservation, even if it's only shortly before you go. Sometimes it's reservations only. Then, it's not a place for everyone, but we absolutely loved everything about Haru Kitchen. It was very quiet when we went - no other customers and no background music. The one room was cosy and warm, but not stuffy, on a cool day. We sat by the large windows in the sunshine overlooking an interesting, overgrown garden full of dragonflies, bees, and butterfles. The lunch menu has only 3 choices. We had the tomato curry and the venison hot pot. Both were absolutely delicious. Both came with shiny, moist Hokkaido rice, which was outstanding!! We had two glasses of grape juice, red and white. They were refreshing and quite unusual. The service was prompt, professional, and unobtrusive. Cute little cafe restaurant close to Asahidake ropeway with a very homely vibe! There was no English menu available however the owner was very helpful and understood basic English.
