CROCE season2 — Restaurant in Higashishirakawa

Food was decent and on par with any hipster burger shop you’d find in any major city. They make their own bread and have a good menu. The design inside is nice and modern, and the view from the terrace is spectacular. However, the waiting time for a table was almost two hours. When our number was finally called, we ordered and it took another hour to get the food. Looking at other tables, there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to how food was being prioritized, which meant that some people were being seated after us, but still getting food earlier. Our order got messed up, despite someone coming out and verbally confirming it. There were so many attention to detail issues that really soured us on the visit. We pushed the button for a waitress and waited several minutes before we finally had to push it again. Our tray for silverware didn’t have any. The wait time for a table was so long we couldn’t order from the lunch menu. The food kept coming out one item at a time. First my friend got her burger, then about 15 mins later I got mine, and then after that they brought out the french fries. They served the water once and then we didn’t get refills until we had to ask for them at the time they finally brought us our food. Then when it was time to pay, the cash register was broken and we had to wait another 10-15 mins just to pay. If this place didn’t have cool architecture or a cool view of the mountains, it would get one star. I was really excited to try this place. We drove way out into the mountains just to eat here and looking back on the 3.5 hours we sank into these ¥1200 burgers, it was not at all worth it. Avoid it...

Beautiful location but the service leaves much to be desired. After waiting almost 2 hours for a table, were we told only a counter was available and if we wanted a table, it'd be another 30 mins. We chose the counter, only to be forgotten after we ordered our food. No one came by to refill our water or even brought us our drinks before the food. After almost an hour only one burger arrived without the other parts of the set. I was halfway through eating it before we decided to cancel the drinks (and the cake I'd ordered for after the meal). A friend and I called in just before closing and were served very well, and enjoyed Coffee/ Cafe' Latte, Scone & muffin on the outside deck to and amazing view.
