A soulful, traditional Japanese dining experience in Toragi, Iiyama Food: This is traditional Japanese cuisine at its finest. Every dish tells a story, with the specials being the standout—truly the best way to experience the depth of flavor and seasonality here. The special set menu was extraordinary, so were the side dishes and accompaniments, each crafted with skill and care. You can taste the lifetime of dedication in every bite. The balance, texture, and flavours reflect years of mastery. Service: The service is heartwarming and personal, provided by an elderly husband and wife duo who run the restaurant themselves. Hashiba-san, the husband, and his wife make you feel like you are stepping into their home. Their quiet attentiveness and gentle hospitality make the experience incredibly special. It’s clear they pour their hearts into every guest they serve. Ambience: The restaurant has an intimate, rustic charm. At the foot of Togari, it feels retro and captures a moment in time. Inside, there’s warm wooden interiors and traditional touches that reflect the deep roots of Japanese culture. The unique atmosphere, paired with the couple’s gentle presence, creates a space where you can truly slow down and savor every moment. Value: For such an authentic and deeply personal experience, the pricing is incredible value. It’s rare to find such craftsmanship and heartfelt service at this value. Every yen spent feels like a contribution toward sustaining a piece of living culinary heritage. Overall Experience: Dining here felt like being invited into the heart of rural Japan. It’s not just a meal, but a memory I’ll treasure—a reflection of harmony, craft, and tradition that few places can offer. If you find yourself in Toragi, make this a must-visit. I left feeling nourished in every sense of the word, and I hope to return someday to thank Hashiba-san and his...
Read moreDelicious and amazing homemade food, all foods are prepared meticulously and carefully with every meal made from scratch. A lot of different kinds of menus available at the restaurant and every menu is made from fresh ingredients. Price is very affordable and worth it for the meals. I ate the pork katsu set meal (pork cutlet with set meal) for only 1000 Yen and it is more than enough to make you full. The owners are two lovely old couple preparing and cooking the food for us. They are very very kind and very welcoming every time we went into this store. We were short by 700 yen on the first time we went here (because they only accept cash not card) but they still allowed us to come back tommorow to pay back the rest of the money and was still very kind to us. Very very recommended if u come to Iiyama...
Read moreI find this place the best and authentic around togari Pegasus Slope.
The rest of places seems to sell instant food but served in fanciful plating.
This place serves real homely cooked food
I especially love the chicken thigh yakitori. Super tender on the inside and a little char on the outside.
Opened by an old couple and only the two of them. They can get busy when they are full. Have a little patience with them 😊
I also like the pork katsu rice, it's a little crispy yet drench with the homemade sauce.
Definitely will come back for more. 💯
