Sushi is ok here. They have a cool robot to check you in which is neat. The place is clean. It is a chain and definitely has that feeling with the staff. The staff are efficient, but I wouldn't necessarily say they are friendly like other local sushi restaurants. I've been here twice and left both times feeling somewhat disappointed. Considering the price it's a decent value, so if you want to try a lot without breaking the bank, you can here. They also have a lot more cooked sides and other meats than fish to try if you aren't big on raw fish like they have duck and beef. But as far as the fish goes...you get what you pay for. The quality of the fish and the size of the fish on the nigiri is just not as good as other places around town (like the sushi go round by yellow hat for example). The scallop for example, you get 2 pieces for 150 yen, which at first seems like a good deal until you see the size and how they cut it. Compared to other places that give you two big scallops each on rice for like 300-400 yen, this place's 2 pieces are basically 1 scallop cut in half each put on rice and it didn't taste nearly as fresh. Also both times I went I thought the tuna quality was not good at all. Getting the trio of fatty, med belly, and lean tuna, honestly all 3 pieces tasted just blah and were quite small. The pieces I got I could barely tell the difference from when other places if you get the fatty tuna you know you are getting a quality marbled piece of tuna vs the med belly vs the lean tuna. Here they all seemed to be about a medium/lean cut of tuna. The other disappointing thing with the tuna was half the tuna pieces we did get were icy and stiff, like they were borderline being...
Read moreFor those new to Iwakuni/Japan in general, this is a great introduction to the glory that is the sushi conveyor belt aka sushi-go-round. The price for sushi ranges from 90Yen-150Yen, with a few select options for less than 300.
About a 10 minute drive from MCAS Iwakuni, parking is good, they have a robot (yes a robot) that helps you choose between your seat options and party size; seating options include a counter or a table (table seats 4 adults comfortably).
To order your food/drinks, you utilize a tablet at every counter/table (english option is available), it is extremely easy to use. The difference here is that all the sushi is made-to-order. So placing your orders constantly is a must so you don't get hungry.
I love coming here with my family, great restaurant, amazing staff, delicious sushi/nigiri/gunkan, and just an experience...
Read moreGreat place for families! It's not the best sushi but it's also not expensive. I think you get great value for what you pay. I have a family of five five that eats a lot and it usually only cost us between 3, 000¥ and 4000¥ for dinner. They also have a really good side items menu and options for anyone who doesn't like sushi. We have one very picky eater in our family and she loves the place. The staff is always very friendly and the ordering is automated so even if you don't speak Japanese you'll be fine. The automated menu is in both English and Japanese. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because it's not a five-star restaurant. It is however a great restaurant and I highly recommend it for...
