So I use to come here when I was in the service about 6 years ago and I would always come with my friend. I left around 2019 and was very excited to see Makoto-san after years of not seeing him. Never remembered him being so creepy. I went inside yesterday to sit down and one other person was there. I asked if he remembered me and he said no which is fine. I just wanted to eat his food. Eventually, he said he did remember me and we talked for a bit. When the other person in the restaurant left, that’s when it got strange. He asked me for a hug and when I hugged him he started to rub his chest against my breast and when I pulled back he said I was sexy and when he did the same thing again I had to leave. I was extremely uncomfortable and heartbroken because I always saw him like a grandpa. Needless to say, I will never be coming back here again. It truly breaks my heart to even write this but didn’t feel right not saying anything. Be careful if you’re a woman going into his shop alone, it was the first time I was ever alone with him and I truly thought I was okay being alone with him but...

We ordered the Pork Ramen with Fried Rice and the Gyoza Ramen Set with Spicy Pork Ramen. The gyozas were pan-fried, so crispy on the outside and full of flavor. The ramen itself was good, with classic thin noodles and a rich, satisfying broth, about as authentic as it gets.

The menu is available in both Japanese and English, and the owner speaks English very well, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. There are limited seats and the owner told us at time (specifically on payday weekends) the wait can get pretty long.

While the food was fantastic, the true highlight of our visit was the owner himself. We happened to be the only customers for part of our meal, and he took the time to chat with us throughout. He shared stories and proudly showed us the many gifts he’s received from visitors over the years (he especially appreciates American chocolate and Burger King meals!)

His warm hospitality and lively conversation made the experience truly memorable. We’ll definitely be returning—not just for the food, but for the friendly...

An okay ramen for me but the fried rice is good!. My husband love the Spicy Miso ramen and gyoza. But HE NEEDS TO CHANGE THE COOKING OIL of the gyoza. It’s already dark in color and it looks like a burnt gyoza. The owner is working by himself so you have to be patient waiting for your food. Also, HE TALKS TOO MUCH.. you can’t eat in peace. I mean like, why tell people things you shouldn’t be talking about?!. Who cares about what you have or have to say?!. Can you just let us eat because it’s annoying that you talk too much. It’s fine to joke around with the customers sometimes but let them eat first. And stop asking them questions too!. People are different, some are okay with you talking, some don’t like that and will get annoyed of you talking too much. If you want them to come back, be professional with your job. But guys, you can try coming here and see if you’ll like his ramen or foods. You just...

Excellent. Best Ramen in the local Eastern Yamaguchi Prefecture. Small shop, with seating for only about twelve. Parking is limited immediately outside, however you can park at the grocery store across the street. The owner talks a lot, with limited English. He recently update the prices to reflect the increased tax rate. The ramen, as previously mentioned, is fantastic. Additionally, the fried rice is unbelievable. He puts forth a lot of effort and care into his ramen, you can tell he’s truly passionate. I do NOT suggest going with a large party. He prefers groups of two to three at the most. He is closed on Thursday and closes at 9pm on Sunday. Lastly, for regular customers, he knows their orders and treats them like family. Great place, quintessential Japanese experience and service.

Rich and delicious are the most accurate words I could use to describe Kobutaya Ramen. Using a pork bone broth the owner/cook delivers one of the best bowls of ramen you've ever had. He's had his shop for more than 21 years and he works alone. Open six days a week the owner shops for local, fresh ingredients and hand rolls his gyoza daily. Very small shop with about 10 seats. Service is fast considering there's only one employee.
