We visited there on 31st January to 1st February. All staff who were at the reception desk, places to eat dinner and breakfast, and even a guy who seemed to be kind of a constructor in the lobby had smile on their faces all the time and very friendly. We had a buffet for crabs and shrimps for dinner and it was really nice as well. Although it was hard to take out meat from it since we weren't that used to eat it. While struggling it, you get hungry because the meat was little in each crabs. But overall, it was fun and nice how they prepare several ways to enjoy the food. Regarding to breakfast, we could get both Japanese and western style breakfast with rice and bread, and tea and coffee for example. It was a buffet also so you could eat as much as you want as well as the dinner. The shared hot spring bath had two types of baths and it was either hot not cold, just perfect temperature. I wished there were a few more types of bath or sauna. It wasn't crowded at all but relaxing. We chose a Japanese style room with tatami mats and attached bathroom. It was very clean and it had everything we needed. My partner prefers taking a bath or shower without caring others(not in a shared bathroom) so it was great they prepared the room for us. It would have been much better if he could enjoy the same water of the hot spring in the private bathroom. It's so hard to find a place where has a Japanese style room with a private bathroom attached so the room is for people who are like us. They give you two keys for each room so it can be pretty convenient if you and your friends or family go somewhere separated. |We really enjoyed our stay at this place. You can take a shuttle bus between Kameoka station and the place and it's super convenient for people who can't go there by car. Also the driver was friendly even though he had only us to bring to the place and station. If you have a car, I definitely recommend the place and it seems there're some sightseeing spots so it would be convenient to look around. If you can't go there by car, the purpose of a stay should be relaxing. But they have a shuttle bus as I mentioned so I recommend here if you go there for relaxing because it takes only an hour from the center of Kyoto city. (About 30mins from the center to Kameoka station by JR line and 30mins more to the place by...

Read moreI selected this onsen as Kyoto did not have many, and the food/inroom tub looked great in the pictures on the website. ||||We reached JR Kameoka station at around 3pm, an hour plus train ride from Kobe, and the shuttle bus from the ryokan came to pick us up at 3.30pm. The driver was very helpful in loading the baby stroller into the bus. (which is a minivan) ||||The ride was about 20 min by car to the onsen, and we were checked in very quickly by the service staff who speaks basic English. Ladies could pick a selection of yukata for use in the ryokan. There is a small inhouse store selling regional food and goods (10% discount at 6pm -10pm daily). There was also a small cafe providing welcome drinks. ||||We took a room with twin beds and attached hot bath as we had a 1 year old toddler and the room did not disappoint. It was spacious, modern, and the room had a view of a mini garden with autumn leaves. The temperature of the bath was around 40+ degrees celsius which the baby was fine with to soak in as well. There is no wifi however, you have to loan the wifi service from the front desk. ||||Dinner was at their grill restaurant which was like an 8-course fine dining meal of the Kyoto ingredients. Impeccable service there as well, and the food was great as well. Breakfast was also provided full course with a salad bar in the same restaurant in the morning. ||||Checkout was at 10am , and we managed to soak in the hot tub after breakfast before packing up and checking out. Kameoka station was near the Sagano romance train to Arashiyama so we were able to travel to Arashiyama after that. ||||Additionally , the ryokan has a park/playground just outside, next to it's carpark, so our toddler had fun as well. ||There are no convenience stores nearby, but vending machines with beer/drinks so if you want snacks you might want to get some before getting on the shuttle bus at Kameoka station. ||||Overall it was an...
