TEA HOUSE UxU （足湯カフェ） — Restaurant in Kameoka

We arrived in the area a few hours before our hotel check in, so we decided to walk to this tea house. It was an amazing experience, one of the highlights of our trip so far.

The tea house is on a road in a scenic area, so there's some pretty views. The owner greeted us when we arrived, and spoke good English. The menu is in Japanese, but there's pictures and a translator app was enough to understand it well.

First, we ordered two different types of tea. I ordered a floral tea from Kyoto. The owner gave us a selection of colors we could choose for our plates, which is a nice touch. We enjoyed our tea, then went to the front counter to place our order and pay. I had a curry dish, and my companion a baked curry dish au gratin. They were very tasty. Finally we had dessert, I had a parfait and my companion had the daily cake option, which was a cheese cake.

We asked partway through our meal to enjoy the footbath which is provided for free. There are only 4 footbath spots, but the cafe is out of the way so it's not so busy and we were able to get a spot after a small wait. The footbath provides nice views of the roadway outside.
