For those who have searched for vegan shops in Japan, Veggie 船出屋 (Funade-ya) is like an oasis in the middle of a desert, located in a remote part of Fukuoka (but easily accessible because it is situated so near the Shishibu railway station)!! This place is the best! Its 100%vegan, with huge sets including a variety of mock meats, mock egg, so many different fresh veggies cooked in many ways, and delicious sauces. There is no menu item that left us wanting more, everything available is enough food to fill you up for less than ¥1200. The spot itself is traditional Japanese seating, very cozy and with free wifi. The owner is very nice and welcoming, and there is no shortage of advertisements for local vegan festivals/events and punk shows! This was by far the best vegan food I have had in all of Japan. The food was all very fresh and homemade. There was a huge variety of japanese vegetables prepared in different ways and everything was cooked oil-free.

The decorations make the restaurant very cozy. The walls are covered with shelves of books and posters about veganism, so it is clear that the owner cares very much about the lifestyle.
