Tōge No Chaya — Restaurant in Kokonoe

After visiting Otsuribashi, we were hungry and this restaurant immediately caught our eye, so we parked the car and went straight in.

Mmm… the smell of meat grilling over charcoal was irresistible.

The weather was cloudy with a bit of light rain, so both the bridge and the restaurant were not too crowded. We ordered two portions of meat and some soba for 3 people, and it was just right. Compared to typical yakiniku places, they served a generous amount of vegetables, which I really appreciated.

Amazing and delicious yakitori on charcoal grill by a cute elderly couple. If you only speak English, be patient with the owners as they work to serve you.

The chicken was well marinated and you'd have to grill them yourself. Paired with an egg (which can be raw, hard boiled or fried), a bowl of rice, some pickles and miso soup, the set costs 1600円 per person.

The place is just slightly down from the Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge and we're glad we stopped by to enjoy...

Very cute little local store run by an elderly couple. They have a chicken barbecue set meal for one which comes with the most amazing miso soup , a fried egg and fresh basket of sweet raw cabbage.

Nice soft succulent chicken cooked over charcoal and they were so nice to set up heaters around us as the weather turned really cold.
