Takashima — Restaurant in Kyotango

This is an excellent (primarily) seafood restaurant located in what I think is the best onsen in the entire region (if not Japan). The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly casual, and the space is quite small. There are only three or four tables (4-5 seats max) plus some bar space. The atmosphere is definitely at odds with the level of seafood expertise displayed by the chef. I have been here a few times, and would likely go more if the prices were just a little bit lower, but the quality is excellent and customers are definitely getting what they pay for here. I ordered the striped beakfish sashimi as a set meal, which came with soup, rice, pickles and beakfish tempura. The presentation was impressive, as was the use of red daikon (pinkish in color) as garnish to match the fish's hue. I can also highly recommend their steamed/stewed fish, served in a butter-based broth with vegetables mixed in. The fish here is locally sourced and always extremely fresh. よし野の里のレジと温泉側の間にあります。 お弁当と店内飲食があるようです。 椅子は5席ほど、それ以上お客さんが来たらどうなるかは不明です。

冷やしうどん、カレー付きを注文。先払いです。 冷やしうどんは、氷で冷やすというより大量の水に浸かっていました。 水っぽくなるので出来れば水気が少なくするか、ざる的なもので水が切れた方がいいのかなと思いました。 あまりコシのない麺という印象です。 出汁は濃いめでレンコンなどが入っている出汁でした。 カレーはやや辛め、じゃがいもや、パプリカ的な野菜も入っていました。 カレーうどん自体は好きですが、冷やしたうどんに熱いカレーを付けて食べるという組み合わせはベストなのかは疑問がありました。
