Seiffener Tippel — Restaurant in Minamiaso

We were headed to the northwest side of the town and saw this little hut and decided to stop in for a coffee on a rainy day. We were surprised to see how cozy and enchanting the wooden toy laden interior was. Had a latte which came in a larger size and was perfectly foamy. My lady had the hot cocoa which was topped with homemade whipped cream. We both had the cake set. Great experience for the area. If you’re German, you’ll feel immediately at home. We had been to this cafe on 11/7/2017 accidentally since we lost our way to 白川水源. There was heavy rain and many roads are blocked in the area. We could not find our way to go back to main roads. Sind zufällig vorbeigefahren und waren als Deutsche total überrascht von der Existenz dieses Cafés. Als wir spontan anhielten wurde die Überraschung noch größer, als wir als gebürtige und nicht allzu weit von Seiffen lebende Sachsen die mit erzgebirgischer Schnitz- und Drechselkunst ausgestatteten Räume betraten. Das ganze Gebäude ist mit Detailliebe dekoriert, ohne, dass es kitschig wirkt. Man könnte wirklich glauben, man sitzt in einem Seiffener Café. Die Speisekarte erinnert auch an deutsche Cafés, ist aber eher japanisiert.

Der Baumkuchen kommt dem Deutschen viel näher als alle anderen, die wir bisher in Japan probierten. Er wird hausgemacht und ist bissfester und weniger süß als anderswo. Bis jetzt der beste Baumkuchen in Japan (nur der Schokoladenüberzug hat gefehlt, aber den bekommt man fast...
