The food is good, except the beans and legumes are always undercooked. The berries grown on the premises are organic, but the owner has anger issues and verbally abuses his volunteer staff. He allows volunteers to come live and work at the farm/restaurant in the wwoofing program. I don't recommend anyone volunteers here. On 2 occasions the owner got angry and literally screamed at me. The reasons were not at all legitimate, (there's never a legitimate reason to scream at a volunteer) I was a hard worker and did everything I was told. I had done laundry with the highest setting because I had a huge load and everything was muddy since that week was raining and I was sitting and laying on the ground for my job, weeding. The owner screamed at me for 5 minutes, slammed his fist on the laundry machine, and glared at me from head to toe like he was challenging me to a fight. He tried to intimidate a 34-year-old woman, that's just laughable. He also screamed at me and told me to get out of the building after I'd taken off my shoes on the doormat inside the room instead of outside on the patio (I was doing exactly what the staff member Saki does). I was given 2 weeks notice to leave simply because I wake up early to go running before work. One staff member Yuta literally screamed at me red-faced because I don't follow everyone else's schedule. When i wake up in the morning, I'm not noisy, I'm just being normal. I'm considerate to the others sleeping in the shared housing. I don't stomp or crash the dishes or sing to myself. But apparently I'm the one that got punished and given 2 weeks notice, and the regular staff member who verbally abused me is allowed to stay. Also, the chef, the owner's wife, always undercooks the beans and legumes, and ignored my recommendations on how to cook them. The volunteers have an open communication with the chef, supposedly, in theory. She also purposely lied to me to make herself useless when I needed help. I asked where is the wifi router and modem, so we could reset it so my phone's internet can run smoothly. She pretended to not know where it was, and even pretended to not know her husband's phone number to ask him if it's ok to do it. When I told a new volunteer about these incidents, the owner said...
Read moreI had nice memories on this cafe from our last trip seven years ago, so we planned a stop-by on our round trip. When we entered the cafe we got a sign noticing that children up to 13 are not welcomed. As our boy is one year older we did not further care, but it should have made us alarmed at that point. The owner and his wife treated us cold and unwelcoming, though we were the only guests on a rainy day. The situation became awkward when I mentioned that I was here before- no smile, no kind word- just the brief reply that it could not been him I met before. YES INDEED: no customer would show up again after such treatment. We left the cafe 10 minutes after we got our orders. Food may be good, but it needs more to make happy customers. Please decide by yourself if you...
