Island Pig House — Restaurant in Motobu

This busy Okinawan soba restaurant specializes in its succulent, thick-cut island pork, perfectly cooked and imbued with smoky depth from the charcoal grill. The simplicity of the broth allows the pork's rich flavors to shine. We preferred the pork belly over the ribs.

You can also order different sizes of noodles from a vending machine at the entrance, and payment is cash only.There is no English menu, but there are pictures to help you choose. It seems they also sell the pork and noodles in frozen packs.

The traditional ambiance is charming, with most of the seats on the tatami. However, a few "feet-on-the-ground" wall-facing seats are available for those who prefer a slightly different experience.

Service was a bit slow when we visited during off peak as there's just one staff member on the floor. However, the quality of the food makes the wait worthwhile.

We came here on Monday noon, we waited for 10mins to be seated. On the door it’s mentioned that the owner is currently in the hospital so only limited meal sets can be offered. Once entered the restaurant, you need to order the meals from the vending machine, there are different languages available so it’s easy for tourists to place order. The noodles were thick and a bit chewy in the good way. Soup is made by bonito, super tasty. The pork is so soft it can be cut by chopsticks. Soft-boiled egg has been marinated well and taste a bit sweet. Fish cakes and tofu were grilled so you can taste the flavor of charcoal on it. Everything in this noodle was perfect and balanced with each ingredient. Would definitely come back again, and hope the owner will...

I loved this place. If you want to eat a legit ramen, this is where you'll find it, although it does say Okinawa soba. The seating is horigotatu or on the floor which was good because I had a 3 yo with me. They have small bowls and cutlery ready for children. You buy a ticket before you order. The pork is full of flavor and I loved the fried tofu that came with it. Apparently they ship their ramen to Tokyo so I might order on yahoo shopping....I mean it's...
